After a moment of thought, Shad recalled that yes, he did have english next. So he made his way towards the classroom at a much slower pace, knowing that he still had several minutes left to get there.
As he walked, his mind was on that troublesome egyptian kid—though they seemed the same age, something in him just saw the other boy as younger than him. And what the hell did he say when he walked by me? It sounded foreign, but I almost seemed to understand it... Shad frowned, shaking his head. Couldn't be. I don't know any other languages.
He sighed heavily and forced his mind back to the present, though he still felt the need to hurt somebody, lingering after his encounter with the other boy. He couldn't start a fight, though, not at this school. Not unless he wanted to be shipped back home. What would his father think then? He'd probably beat me black and blue... no, I absolutely cannot go back there. Those thoughts did nothing to ease his frustration. He almost wanted to punch a wall, just to release all of this tension; instead he pulled out his pocket knife and flicked it open and closed repeatedly. It helped to occupy his hands, which calmed him somewhat.
By that point he was almost to the english classroom. Hell, the other class probably isn't even out yet! He then saw a flicker of movement up ahead. Wait, who's that? Shad glanced up and saw a dark-haired girl walking up ahead. He watched with narrowed eyes as she yelled at something, then bolted off down the corridor, headed towards the front doors. He glanced down a side hall towards his english class—he still had several minutes left, should he follow her? Nodding decisively, he adjusted his grip on his backpack, pocked his knife and ran off after the girl.
Shad was panting slightly by the time he caught up with her, and he looked outside just in time to see an ethereal-seeming woman vanish into thin air. He blinked, dumbstruck. The dark-haired girl seemed equally shocked, if her words were any indication. "Am I seeing things? Who was that?"
She then sat down, holding her head in her hands; she didn't appear to have noticed him yet. Shad debated with himself for a moment. On the one hand, he wasn't good with people... on the other hand, he completely empathized with this girl, wanting to do the same thing himself. Finally deciding, dropped his backpack and sat down next to her, resting his forearms on his knees as he tried to find the right words to say.
"Yeah," was all he could come up with. There was a short, awkward moment of silence, then he cleared his throat, feeling he should add to that statement somehow. He shifted uncomfortably before he continued. "This school is pretty weird. Lots of... weird things happening, visions and stuff. You know?"
((Whew, that was a longer post than I'm used to writing. Any idea where The Silent Masquerader is? He/she hasn't posted here in awhile.))
