Sophie laughed a little at her own question, seeing Alicia's reaction. Maybe she was being a little silly. However, certain things had happened...

She listened to Alicia's story with interest. Old haunted mines in Africa...a hyena as big as a lion...Sophie imagined seeing a huge creature like that, staring down at you from above, opening its wide, grinning jaws to speak. Creepy, crazy, but for some reason she didn't find it impossible. And something tugged at her memory when Alicia mentioned dreams.

"I've seen ghosts. I've seen my granddad", so, okay, maybe she made it up some of the time, but she had seen him on more than one occasion, "and once I even saw a dead horse. The mare gave birth to twins, and then she died, but I saw her the next day near the creek, bending down for a drink of water. I always wanted to see my parents, I used to visit their graves at night and ask for their spirits to appear, but they didn't." Sophie looks a bit complentative for a moment, "I never knew them," she added.

She quickly recovered and fished in her bag for her schedule. "Yeah, that redhaired kid looked mean. I thought he was going to punch out the teacher when he came in." She looked over her schedule for the remainder of the day. "I have english next, then lunch."
