Again, to bring up my previous point, there are seven other people in my rp. Two have the same kind of IM as I do. So if I need to contact them all I have to invest in half a bloody hour on here just to let them know.

Yup, i mean, look at my post count. Hardly inspiring is it? But then i pride myself on a consistent level of posting standard and i don't join more rp's than i can handle. So by your suggestion, should i be limited with my PM function? After spending almost a year here?

Post count is a ridiculous thing to base it on. Although I don't think we should remove it altogether, we shouldn't use it s a basis for anything. I know a few people who've achieved upwards of 300-400 posts in the last half week!
The key here is that final sentence, you see.
After spending almost a year here?
No you shouldn't. But of course, you don't, with all of those glorious mod powers you have! But I'm sure there's boatloads of people here who have been around just as long, with no such benefits. The factor in deciding the PM Limit here is time.
I've been here a week and a half and it's already gotten my attention. But that's why it was made. Anyone who's been here for a month without a... er... 'criminal record,' per se, should no longer be subject to any limits regarding their PMs. How many times must you talk to a person before deciding if you will become friends? Twice? Three times? Ten, in the case of nerds like myself? So surely, 30-31 days is enough time for a member's posts to reveal their true colours, and prove whether they deserve restrictions or not.
Sure, as competent people have to undergo a month of annoyance, it's not a perfect strategy. But it's damn well better than the one in place now, wouldn't you say?
By the way,

Now If we did that, people will just spam with one or two words in the welcome section or off topic to get their post count to 1,000 then the forum will go to crap.

Isn't that the fate of every forum, in the end? In twenty years, where will we be? God only knows, I can only suppose.
No rhyme intended.
