Zion ran her fingers through her hair as she got out of bed, smoothing out her shirt and making a mental note that a shower would be best in the near future. Looking around to see everyone was already out of the room, she let out a loud yawn, not being one to express her fatigue around others.
After plugging in Xiro, she walked over to Cairo who was sitting there patiently, smiling up at her as she grabbed the chord for his chair.
“Hey, beautiful. How are you doing this morning?” he asked with a boyish grin, stealing a glance at everything below her neckline, only able to imagine what sort of beautiful body was hidden beneath it.
“Just fine.” she replied, wrapping her hand tightly around the chord and shoving it in the back of the skull a little bit harder than she usually did with the others.
“Hey can someone load the swords?” Cairo asked, looking up at the blank ceiling as though praying to some far off god. He was wearing attire that differed greatly from the others: white pants with a black dragon design, and a white and black long sleeved shirt missing parts of the shoulders, and what appeared to be ribbons of fabric going down the arms. His hands were half covered by a soft black fabric, the same going for the lower part of his face, making his voice slightly muffled, but still discernable to Locke and Zion. After all, they were trained to be able to pick up whispers in hiding and shouts over emptying clips. It seemed possible that reading thoughts was something else they were capable of, but no one ever spoke of such foolish things.
Zion took her seat beside Locke after carefully plugging in Miak, adjusting the screens before putting her headphones on. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Locke pop in the disc for the blades, seeing them rise up from the floor next to Cairo who eyed each one carefully.
“We got any Dragonflies?”
“Third over.” Locke replied, typing in hurriedly and adjusting the mouthpiece of her headset.
Taking two of the sleek Samurai swords, Cairo placed them in the sheaths above each thigh, grabbing a huge paper crane katana made with Tamahagane steel, and putting that in a sheath on his back. On his waist, he slid in small throwing knives into easy to reach slots around his belt, knowing his expert eyes would make them lethal for long distances.
Zion listened to Ares speak and raised a brow “Why do you all need so many weapons if you’re visiting the Oracle?”
“They’re men.” Locke said, covering her speaking piece with a cloth gloved hand “They’re probably compensating or something, waiting for the oracle to tell them they’re gonna have problems down south. You know, pre mid life crisis.”
“Good thing I’m too young for one of those.” Glytch said, strapping on a pair of fingerless gloves as he walked in, trying to read the screens but finding himself getting a headache. “Yeah. Boring.” he added, looking over at one of the empty plug in chairs with longing
“I hate it when they don’t take me.”
“Welcome to my world.” Locke said, typing in a few messages before settling back, waiting for everyone to get their weapons.
