The infuriating sound of chiming bells woke Alexander from his somewhat peaceful sleep. Reluctantly opening his eyes, he shifted his body around in the bed. Its satin sheets morphed around his body as he did so. An arm firmly holding his weight off the bed, he turned his head and addressed his sleeping wife, the chiming continuing. "Nicola..." Nothing. "Nicola, your phone..." Still nothing. "For Christ sake Nicola, your phone!" The sheer fury and persistance in his voice was enough to make the girl jump.
Her caramel coloured skin produced goose-pimples as her tiny frame stepped from the warmth of the bed. Frowning at Alexander and ruffling her raven hair, she walked to her phone that was placed lazily on the counter. "H-hello? ... Yes... Alright, that's fine. I'll see you there." Her voice was as sweet as ever, and, if just for a moment, Alexander regreted his aggresive attitude. His body was now creeping off of the bed, hesitance evident in its every move. "Who was that?" His voice was muffled in comparison to hers'. His fingers ran through his messy blonde hair as he kissed her softly on the forehead. She smiled only slightly and began to speak. "It was work." She stated as she grapled with a pencil skirt and blouse. "I have a big story I need to report on, so... I got to go."
Alex pursed his lips, trying to hold back obvious aggresion in his tone. "Right, of course. I'll see you later then?!" The statement turned to more of a question as he shuffled to put on a t-shirt. Nicola was already grabbing a banana as she ran towards the door, glancing back for but a moment. "Right. Love you." After blowing a half-hearted kiss, she was gone. Again. Alexander heaved a sigh and threw on some pale denim trousers. In an impulsive decision, he decided to get breakfast at a Cafe he liked.
Grabbing the flats' keys, he strode from the appartment, a frown firmly placed on his head. The walk down the street was quite challenging. The hustle and bustle of New York life was beginning to get too much for him. He grimaced as he wedged his way through masses of bodies. All heading for work! God Damn, I need a job! He grappled with his own mind as he entered the surprisingly not-so-busy cafe. Deciding to let the waitress come to the table, Alex sat at table close to the window as he looked out at all of the busy employed people.
