The man she'd first observed introduced himself as Drisk Kayne, then rattled off a long sentence that contained words Yoshe didn't immediately comprehend. " 'Percent'? 'Factoid'?" She repeated, suddenly wishing that she'd cared more about learning this language in the past.
"He means to say that he's considered a very dangerous person at his home," came a high pitched male voice. Yoshe's quick change in posture indicated that she knew the voice.
From several feet away came floating another Yaksa, in similar dimensions to Yoshe but for being male.
"Kokenshiu!" Yoshe drawled in complaint.
"You'll have to forgive my subordinate," he said in much less broken, if still heavily accented, Common. "She bears the trait of our Fairy cousins that makes them such curious and annoying creatures."
"Arashe! I am NOT like those small creatures," Yoshe said forcefully.
Turning to Yoshe, Kokenshiu said, "We will be holding our council soon, so do not take too long." He pointed to a clock on a far wall. "Ten minutes, if you remember how to keep track of those on these devices." With that, he fluttered away.
Yoshe sighed, exasperated. These people were interesting, and she wanted to learn what she could. The nature of the woman's relationship to her animal, the animal itself was interesting, why the man reeked of magic...
Suddenly expeditious, Yoshe pointed at the man--forgetting his earlier warning--and said very clearly, "You have magic." Then she pointed at the feline and stated, "You are strange." Though her tone of voice might have been taken as somehow accusing, Yoshe's expression was still one of curiosity. By pointing these things out, she was hoping to get explanations before her 'ten minutes' were up.
