Aradi jumped to the right, landing on a table, those sitting around it jumped back quickly, those not fast enough to do so falling over with their chairs, the fist that had been headed straight for his face struck nothing but air, his demonic tail danced behind him, whipping about with the adrenaline that rushed through him, "You've stolen from me, demon spawn, give back the bloody gold pieces you stole from me!" the furious man yelled, his two friends grinning evilly as they flanked around the table, "I told you already, I stole nothing!" he replied, jumping onto a man's back as he tried to grab his legs, "Lying bloody demon spawn, I'll skewer you for your lies, give it back!"
"How many times do I have to say it, I don't have anything of yours, go earn it instead of robbing innocent tiefs!" he yelled back, jumping onto another table as the tavern master called angrily for them to settle down or get out, he jumped back again, landing unsteadily on another table, he felt a hand grab his left leg and yelled out wordlessly as he was pulled onto the floor from the table, a pint of mead spilled onto his face, he coughed heavily, he hated the stuff, he shook his head and looked at the three men holding him to the ground, a book in his bag dug painfully into his back and a few gold pieces rolled out of his pockets, one of the men ran to retrieve them, he came back counting them, "Six pieces, still owes us another fourteen," the henchman-like man said, Aradi tried to roll to the side but he was held in a heavy vice grip.
His mind was moving through all the defensive spells he knew, his mind suddenly stopped on one of them, a certain spell that would encase his body in a strong acid that wouldn't affect him but it would burn anyone he touched, problem was that he wouldn't be able to touch anything not currently on his person for a full hour, aside from the ground, of course, he took a deep breath, steadying his quickened breathing as the men dug through his pockets, "Xar'nath Acidos!" he snarled, his sharpened teeth showing as he said it, the men looked at him for a moment, confused looks on their faces and then all of a sudden they pulled their hands back quickly.
Aradi could see the burnt skin on their palms and rolled back quickly, heading for the door, he pushed through it quickly, his hand leaving a print on the door where he had pushed it open, he heard a collective cheer from inside the tavern as he bolted down an alleyway to his left, he heard the door open again and as he peeked around the corner saw the three men burst out of the door, each had a knife, they'd not planned on letting him go, he swallowed hard and ran through the alleys, refraining from touching anything or anyone as he ran, after perhaps fifteen minutes he was sure he wouldn't be caught by those men any time soon, but now he needed to leave before they actually did find him, in the years he'd lived he knew that men like that would go to any ends to kill someone like him, after all, his horns would probably make them heavily wealthy if they sold them in the blackmarket, if one existed around here, he sighed as he placed a hand to a wall, he could feel his hand moving into the stone slowly and stopped to look at it, beside his hand was a notice, it started with three questions.
Worried for your safety, traveling alone?
Well, yes, he was tired of that, but who would want to travel with someone with demon blood? Well, he'd find out if he went there, maybe he'd finally have a companion, then again, he might finally lose his head, but it was worth a try.
Wish to see the world?
Yes, he did want that, he wanted to see every piece of it, he wanted to study every bit of his chosen magic areas he could.
No particular destination in mind?
That was correct for him as well, he didn't really have anywhere in particular at all to go, he just wanted to go somewhere, preferably where nobody knew what a demon was, it might be nice to meet someone who wasn't instantly hostile towards him, he made a quick mental note of the date he would have to be there and sighed, as soon as his spell wore off he'd head there, then he'd either meet someone to travel with, walk away with his head still attached or simply lose his head if he was incredibly unlucky.
He glanced at his hand suddenly and pulled it back quickly, the hole in the shape of his hand must've been halfway through the wall! He stepped away from the wall with a small cough and headed out into the streets, the spell encasing his body had taken on a healthy green glow with perhaps the slightest tinge of silver around the edges, he shook his head slowly as he began to walk. It took him a full hour to find the tavern where the group was being gathered, he rolled his shoulders and stepped inside, the bartender glanced at him and Aradi could almost feel the heavy sigh come from the man's lips, he stepped up to the bar quickly, the spell had worn off but there was a certain smell that clung to him now - the smell of brunt flesh, he could see the bartender wrinkling his nose at that, "Erm...Zhaira Darel?" he asked, glancing about, he could feel eyes on him, he wrapped his tail around his left leg quickly, he didn't need to leave something else for people to grab should he need to escape.
The bartender pointed him in the direction of a large table in the corner, he moved quickly over to it, taking a seat away from the human already there and the woman he assumed was Zhaira, "Zhaira Darel, I take it?" he asked the woman, trying to smile, though it came off as a sort of anxious grin, "I'm interested in joining your group of travelers, if you'll have me," he stated, glancing about cautiously as he sat there, waiting.
