Lander woke up when he heard movement, and for a moment forgetting where he was opened one eye cautiously, instinctively on his guard. He saw Drisk get up and leave the hut alone. He wondered where the guy might be going, and guessed that it probably had something to do with his secretive nature. The truth was, the way the guy had been acting, it reminded him of a younger version of himself, before he had learned to come to terms with his own little secret.

After Drisk had gone Lander waited a while then slipped out after him, changing into the large brown dog once more. In this form he could smell the other man's scent easily, and followed it through the forest.

Actually, he was enjoying this early morning stroll, sunlight filtering through a canopy of leaves, the trees still wet with dew. His heightened animal senses picked up the various smells and sounds of the wood. Again he almost forgot himself, ears perked up and tongue lolling happily, feeling the urge to chase after every squirrel and sparrow that darted out from the cover of the foliage.

Soon he was able to track Drisk and looked up as heard movement up in the trees. He saw Drisk, but he looked different, changed, and was moving very rapidly from tree to tree. So this was what he was hiding, he thought, somewhat surprised at how the man had changed but with the knowledge that he had been more or less right in his guess.

He let out several barks and low howls to get Drisk's attention from the ground before he remembered that he was still in his canine form, and quickly changed back so that he could speak properly. "Hey," he shouted, "Hey Drisk!"
