Atalantea dug her hands into the mound of white and silver sand that lay near her. She cried as she realized that this was her Faurdaniel, a merman, who had braved the land in search for her. She cradled what she could, desperately keeping him away from the thieving wind but she failed. The sand slid from her hands and continued to dance with the wind.
The cursed sun shone on her, repairing the wounds her father caused when he punished her by ripping off her wings. The blood red feathers Faur kept with him flew through the wind and formed into her wings once again. She could not have cared less. What use were these wings if they couldn't bring him back?
Faurdaniel's race weathered under the sun. Like the rocks on the cliff, the sun ate at them, dried them until they were nothing but mere sand... and here he was now, offering her back her wings.
She bent over him and gathered what she could to her heart and with tears streaming down her cheeks she lifted her head to the sun and cursed it one more time before heading to the sea.
She was near a huge cliff, overlooking the sea. It would have been beautiful if it were not for the fact that the sea was her death. Salted water burned her kind and the sun saved. Fate was simply cruel in letting her fall for a kind that would mean her death... but it was kind now.
She run through the cliff, ignoring the cuts that running caused her feet. She fell, plunging down the great height and surrounded by white and silver sand. She resisted the urge to spread her wings, resisted the wanting to flap it and instead, reached out for the water that seemed more than happy to finally embrace her.
Her silver hair flew behind her, her eyes became a deeper blue as she approached the water. For a land walker's eyes she would have seemed like a cloud or rain falling into the water. She tightened her hold on herself to hasten her descent.
She smiled until she noticed the symbols carved on the cliff. They seemed to be written by the waves but she could not be sure... She closed her eyes as the waves reached for her and light surrounded her.
She was braced for the burning pain of the sea and she wondered after a second why there was a lack of it. She opened her eyes to darkness. Her eyes automatically adjusted and she seemed to be in some sort of cave. Was she dreaming? She did not want to be here at all.
She noticed light coming towards her from above and saw a form lying still on the ceiling... and another tripping over it. Where is this? Who were they?
