When Triton saw the body clambor to its feet, he did likewise, holding the luminous moss out before him in complete reluctance to present his back to the creature. He paused for a moment, absolutely stunned by the other's appearance while they tiraded on. Something about watching his step and the like... A glance at the figure's clothing revealed a noticeable, dusty boot print and Triton felt his face flush in humiliation, but before he could apologize, as proper protocol demanded, he found himself assaulted with questions he had no answers for, and worse; a threatening stance.
Not about to relinquish his light source, Triton held up his hands harmlessly, which accidentaly showered some loose pieces of moss into his blonde hair. For one who looked so orderly and neat, he hardly seemed to notice "Be at ease good sir," he tried to soothe, seeming as though he had not heard the mention of authorities or saw the threatening stance at all. In fact, he appeared completely calm as though he were about to inform the figure as to what Triton had consumed for breakfast that morning. That meant one of two things. Either Triton had a plan, or he was smug in the fact that the other figure was incapable of harming him.
However, regardless of the other figure's intent, Triton realized he had quickly lost control on the situation he himself had found himself in with the appearance of another figure, and he couldn't quite dismiss the feeling of eyes upon him either. Were there more? More like this creature? A soft shudder threatened to ripple along his spine as his eyes took in the figure's claws.
Had he not been so preoccupied with the stranger before him, he might have been able to at least detect one set of eyes, had he been listening for the not so quiet approach of a certain elf.
"As of yet," he continued, still standing tall and completely unthreatening, "I remain unable to determine a logical answer to your questions besides this; we are deep underground, and you seem as much a prisoner as myself," he regarded calmly, never taking his gaze off the other. "I am trying to determine the answer to my own questions, which run similar to yours as well. Please, be patient if it pleases you to await my synopsis," he said with a slight bow of his head, then raised the moss back towards the wall he had been previously studying before his little tumble.
It may have seen like he had suddenly taken his attention from the strange creature completely, but he had hardly done so, and a trained eye would be able to tell as though Triton had written a big sign explaining his actions. He wasn't a good one at subtlety. However, he still could not shake the feeling of eyes upon him. It made his shoulder blades itch uncomfortably, though he fought the urge to discover what exactly was watching him. Why spoil the element of surprise, by surprising those who thought to surprise him?
