Zephyr's feathers felt like needles in his skin as they tried to stand even straighter. He did accept her offer to join the ship because he wanted to prove to his kind that Humans are worthy of recognition, even if they were responsible for destroying their own planet. He volunteered to stay awake with the ship because for one, his species didn't respond well to being in stasis, and because he wanted to have some responsibility to prove himself.
"How was the time spent alone for you? I mean I hope you were not too bored here all alone on this ship? It can be very hard even for one of your kind to go for long stretches of time without some form of social interaction. Though I really do appreciate you doing this for us, had the ship had some kind of an malfunction or been attacked while we slept..."
"I was alright during your sleep, Cap...I mean Angela." he said, "I do miss talking to another person. The computer has no feeling in it's voice."
"Needless to say you are more then proving your worth to this crew and I hope you stay with us even after we begin colonizing our new home world. Well hopefully this will be our new home world."
Zephyr turned to her as the feeling of adrenaline ran through his body. He missed talking to other people and enjoyed being complimented. It was something his people rarely did, and the computer found it unnecessary.
"T-Thank you Angela." he said, his clawed hand came up with his wing as he casually tried to smooth the feathers on his neck, trying to make it look like he was scratching it, "I would like to stay here. I doubt my people would welcome me back. I did sort of broke a few of my people's laws by joining this ship. We aren't supposed to really be on any other species ship or serving under humans. They think of it as degrading to all Yatians. But I'm happy to be here and I don't really care for going back to that arrogant society. I like it here better. Of course I'll stay."
