Alistair left the club, unplugging two small silicone earplugs and pocketing them. Most DJs had them to protect their hearing. He turned a street corner at saw a young woman cross over to his side of the road. His technically dead heart started pumping fast. It was not because he wanted to do 'things' to her. Oh no. He just wanted to drain her body of blood. He turned back the way he had came and sped off to avoid her. To avoid the temptation. He backed into an alleyway and leapt with inhuman skill to the window ledge above him, then from there onto the roof. Here he saw everything. The skyscrapers, the many amber streetlights, the cars, and the great river that divided the two halves of the city and the bridge which was at his left-hand side. He loved his city, but why did he have to be so different to everyone else?

Vee's black and white body drifted silently through the slow and quiet water of the city's river. Her orca tail flickered as she passed a large ship moored at one side of the river. Vivienne was quite alone in her river as nothing but the fish lived there with her. She often heard laughter above land but rarely left her watery home. Having nothing better to do, she tossed her hair and swam off toward a rusty set of ladders on one side of the river. She hauled herself up by her hands, her large tail useless on land. But once fully out of the water, her tail became legs and she became clothed in white. The ladder ended at street level, but once up, she made a beeline for a nearby bench. She walked over rather shakily and unsteadily as it had been months since she had last been on land. Once at the bench she sat down heavily and breathed rapidly, adjusting to the air. Her skin and long hair changed colour somewhat, and her once diamond-like grey eyes were now a soft hazel. Her hair was strangely dry despite having just stepped out of a river. Pulling her silk shawl about her, as it was a chilly night, she sat on her bench and watched passers by.
