Diane looked up at the nurse and intern and smiled. "No, no, it's okay. We worked things out. It's just been an emotional day, that's all." She smiled over at her daughter, a smile that meant 'keep your mouth shut'. She laughed her tears away and patted her hands on her knees. [color=pink.]"So,"[/color] she said with a new tone of cheeriness, "What do we have to do to get my daughter home?"

Lily kept her mouth shut. Even if she had wanted to spill what had happened in those last seven minutes, she knew somehow that man would find out and get back at them. She was smart enough to keep that little meeting a secret, even though she couldn't stop thinking about it. She felt betrayed by her mother. Lied to, hated, and betrayed. She wasn't so sure she wanted to go home now that she knew what sort of person her mother actually was. Lily lifted up her glasses, blotted at her eyes and looked up at the blonde boy, whose nametag read 'Chris'. She assumed that was his name. She tried hard to think about something else, anything else, than what she had just seen and experienced.

"Can I take this out of my nose? It tickles." She pointed to the oxygen tubes feeding cold air into her lungs.
