Derek saw Gemma come in through the door. He wondered what was going on about that girl that made her late so often. He didn´t really have an answer though so he turned back to his text book and began copying all the questions. These books had amazed him quite a bit during his first year at the school. They dealt with things that were totally unheard of in regular schools like the evolutionary development of what could be called supernatural powers in animals. According to the book, those powers had existed in mankind even since the earliest cultures appeared and maybe even earlier than that. Those people had been treated differently depending on the time. Some cultures revered them as gods. Others saw them as all knowing oracles or just as gifted people. Then of course came the witch hunts, and being a ´unique´ wasn´t such a good thing any more. Today they hid in this school, unbeknownst to the rest of the world. After he finished copying all the questions he leaned back in his chair and started playing with a flame, letting it juggle back and fourth between his hands.
