Vance gagged, "alcohol and I don't get along, no need to worry about that." He remembered the last time he drank, he was sick for days.
"Anything? Do y'all have chicken and dumplings? That is my favorite meal." Vance smiled. He realized that he hadn't eaten all day, and it was catching up on him.
"I'm sorry, I'm probably being rude, I've only been here for an hour and I'm already asking for food." Vance blushed slightly.
When he looked up, he saw Carmen standing in the corner of the room.

Carmen never left the room, he went to a dark corner where he would be unnoticed. He didn't like the strange earth man or how much attention Harper was giving him.
He knew that Harper didn't love him, and it hurt him inside, but he thought that with time, she would come to love him.
