Jareth was sat on a branch outside Shayna's window, the rain tumbling off his white feathers, for years he had watched Shayna grow up, twenty one years to be exact, he had grown to love the young woman. He watched her pick the book up, a flash of hope as he watched, his head tilted slightly, go on, open it, say the words, 'I wish the goblin king would come and take you away to the goblin city,' he thought, he urged her to say the words so he could emerge from this form and take her from this place, to his kingdom, the goblin city, in the labyrinth. He started to sing slightly, "it's only forever... Not long at all..."
