One-Question Interviews
I sent several one-question interviews to a few randomly selected people (actually I just went to the Who's Online listings and chose the first handful I saw) and a couple of them sent me back some very interesting replies. The question was (and this does relate to the spamming topic above in the Domestic section) Do you believe that spamming in the Off-Topic Discussion forum is becoming out of control?
An anonymous member sent me the following which I was most intrigued by and I believe completely trumps the poll above:
Quote:
Given, that threads like WoD's quiz thread, Rate the signature,Rate the avatar, and a few others all walk a thin line between spam and idle chatter, I can see where it starts to get a little troublesome.
But, threads like Really friggin weird and Random thread and What kind of dumb things do you do? and Me: jackass extrodinaire are all just spam for the sake of spam!
I honestly think that the Mods should be a bit more ontop of things. Yes, I know that sounds a bit harsh, as they are doing super-human type things when it comes to keeping things under control. But with all the big disasters going on(Spamming Incident) the smaller problems/etc have been getting little attention. There are currently three super-moderators with seven moderators here at the forum.
And I think that they should be able to keep a little bit tighter grip on what is spam and what is legitimate conversation.
If a thread has people actually posting, like in the Religion or are generally targeted at a specific problem/ideal/opinion like Wanted: creative and talented writers or How have video games affect your lives? and Interesting places to go Then they are serving a purpose toward helping the community.
All-in-all, I think the problem is moderately severe. But its nothing a couple hours of devoted mod-work could clean up/prevent.
I'm sorry if my words insult any of the hard-working mods who dedicate their time to a bunch of people they've never even met. But I'm only speaking the truth as I see it.
(P.s. I hope anyone who reads this can decipher through my rambling to see my point.)
