Brief Background: Alina Von Hautmann was the wife of a Hautmann mercenary commander who came to the new world to fight alongside the Americans. When he was killed by Yellow Fever, Alina's son was too young to assume the running of a bustling colony of displaced mercenaries. Alina became default commander until such time as her son could step up, despite that she was a woman. Her popularity with the men aided this; she was known for being feircely-tempered but intelligent and compassionate, and after several victories against hostile indians and encroaching neighboors, her mettle in battle was unquestionable.
