The leather under the officer's armor creaked as he leaned forward, "So you mean to tell me you've gone deaf in the past three hours?"
Evien fought back a snarl, "No, I mean to tell you that this whole thing is scrapped. How many Jedi did you say were involved? And a sith?" He shook his head, "You'd have to triple the pay to get me out there."
The cantina was dull with only a few other conversations being spoken in low tones. There had just been a massive enounter elsewhere in the city, as damage reports filled the net, clone troopers searched frantically for the jedi, Evien himself barely avoided questioning. His odd characteristics always got him into trouble.
But now, his contact wanted to speak "man-to-man" as he said. So he sent one of his officers to negotiate. He had never been sure precisely who his contact was affiliated with. He knew he was a crime lord of some kind... something salvaging contingents of the military... intercepting supplies. It was shady, it had been around for awhile, and it was getting bigger.
The officer chuckled, "So you're running away once again?"
Evien sighed, "I'm reassessing my -"
"You don't," The officer paused, his eyes flashing, "Run away from us. You're lucky we're even having this conversation."
"You're lucky I haven't already blown a hole in that cocky grin of yours," Evien gritted his teeth.
The officer wiped his face and leaned back in his chair, "The Jedi are trying to get off of this planet, Evien. If that happens," He looked up at the ceiling, squinting slightly. Then he shrugged, "I'll fucking kill you."
Without warning, Evien's blaster pistols were out of their holsters. As this motion occured, four men in the cantina stood up with rifles leveled at him - but they were all too late. In rapid succession, read flashes streaked across the room, sending each rifle-totting meathead to the floor, over a table, or into a wall... dead.
In those three seconds, the officer had managed to click on his comm, but nothing else before the table was overturned on him and he was sent off of his chair and onto his back. Evien placed a firm armored boot on the underside of the table, pushing it down onto the officer. He leaned his face in close, "That's been said to me more than once, you see," He pointed his blaster into the table, "You just added me to your list of enemies."
Evien pulled the trigger three times, the bolts sinking through the table and digging into the officer's chest. He screamed in pain as Evien stood up, kicking the table off of him, "Tell Thelak I said hello."
He holstered his guns and walked out of the cantina, and swing his leg around his speeder. He was going to get to the bottom of this.
Once again, he found himself in the midst of a struggle, and his side was his own.
