I've got a lot planned for the players along the journey that I won't spoil for you here, but I'll let you in on the basic idea.
Ekkillson, fourteen year old son of Ekkill, is slain during a raid on their home village. Ekkill knows that his son now lies in Hel, not Valhalla, since he had not yet become a warrior. Before the high gods of Valhalla, he swears an oath that if it is Odhinn's will, he will bring back his son from Hel, so that he may become a warrior and ascend to Valhalla. Two days later, at sunup, he begins the long journey north with a handful of his closest friends.
