Occupation: Doctor at Middletown Hospital Short Bio: Thomas was born into a typical middle-class American family. He graduated high school with honors, and attended one of the best colleges in the state. There he recieved a major in biology. After college, he attended med-school where he excelled brilliantly. He's now currently a resident at the local hospital in Middletown. He's a modest person, very easy to get along with, and is always looking to help people. Introduction:
Thomas entered the automatic doors at the entrance of Middletown Hospital. He sighed as he walked his way past the addmissions desk. To him it was just another day on the job. He was exhausted though. He worked last night, but today had agreed to pull an extra shift for a co-worker who needed sick leave. He didn't mind though, he loved his job. The greatest satisfaction to him was the thought of helping people in need.
He made his way to the emergency room, where he worked. It was in the back of the hospital, which allowed ambulances easy access to the ground floor. After arriving to the ER, he checked in with the nursing staff, said his good mornings, and proceeded to sit around. Being in a small town, it was very rare for a major emergency to take place. They'd get the occasional accident or someon very sick. But for the most part, an ER doctor in this town was probably one of the less exciting jobs. But Thomas didn't mind, he was happy to be there, and happy to have a job to begin with.
All was going smoothly, Thomas just laid his head down on the counter of the nurses' station when the revolving door for walk-in patients began to turn. Thomas picked up his head, expecting to help someone in need. When he turned around and looked at the revolving door, he saw a elderly looking woman scratching at the glass inside the revolvin door. At first, Thomas figured she was too small and unable to push the door further. He walked up to it, but froze as he got a better look at the woman. Her eyes were rolled back in her head. Her skin was dry, peeling, and greenish. She wore a very nice dress, but was covered from head to toe in mud. Her mouth stayed open, and a faint moaning sound could be heard coming from her vocals.
Thomas didn't know what was going on. But being a doctor, he didn't have time to wait and try to solve a mystery. He decided to help this person. He pulled the revolving door around, and allowd the woman to enter. He went to hold his arm out, as to guide her to him. The woman, still groaning, leaned down towards his arm, and snapped at it. Fortunately Thomas was quick enough and moved his arm out the way. He was absolutely confused. Sure he knew of zombies, and how they're always in movies, but there was no way this could be real. He assured himself it was not real, that this woman was just very sick. Or at least he used this as a way to deny the truth.
He attempted once more to help the woman, but she slowly dragged herself towards him, eager to dig into his flesh. Thomas finally had it click in his mind. This was real, not a horror film. This woman, her dress, the mud, her overall appearance. Thomas concluded the last time she went to a hospital, she left from the morgue. With this in mind, Thomas quickly took action. He shouted for help. A nurse came running to his side. "What's the matter doc.... What is that?!" The nurse froze, watching as the zombie slowly shuffled towards the two. Thomas looked at the nurse. "Go get security, now!" The nurse nodded her head and ran off.
Thomas didn't want to keep the zombie moving around, so he grabbed a fire estinguisher on the wall. He then raised it over his head and threw it at the walking corpse. Her legs broke and she fell to the floor. Unfortunately, she continued to crawl in his direction. Thomas was now truly scared. But before he let himself go completely, the security guard showed up. He immediately knew what to do, he remoed his small pistol and aimed for the zombie's head. He pulled the trigger twice, both shots entering the head. The zombie dropped, dead once more.
The security guard holstered his weapon and pointed at a television hanging on the wall in the waiting room. "It's all over the news. People are reporting this same sort of thing. It's like they're human, but not alive." Thomas interrupted. "Zombies..." The security guard couldn't help but chuckle. "Shit, I guess you're right. The police say they're handling it. But if this is anything like the movies... Hey! Hey where are you going?" Thomas left the security guard mid-sentence. "To see if I can help." Thomas walked out of the ER and to his car. He opened the trunk and pulled out a carbon steel case. He laid it a top the trunk and opened it up. Inside was his AR-15, his prized rifle. He was an avid gun collector, and often went to the shooting range at the gun store. Finally all those hours of practice would pay off.
Thomas loaded his rifle, and put whatever remaining magazines he had left in the passenger seat with the rifle. He then got into the car himself and drove away from the hospital, he was ready to put up a fight.
