(sorry, had a post ready last night, but it got deleted.)

The pencil lead broke with a small snap, as Mel sat down. Ella searched though a overstuffed cloth pouch for another. She was still searching in the bag for the right color when Mel apologized. "You never cease to surprise me." Ella said, smiling when she found just the right pencil.

“About this manager thing…we’ll have to be careful to not pick a scum bag. Lots of people make the mistake of getting someone that only wants money.”

The conversation had turned more serious than Ella had anticipated. She out down the sketch pad beside her and looked at Mel. "I agree with you, but how many people actually want to be our manager, and how many of those would have a clue on what to do?" her doubts on the whole endeavor was showing through. As much as she like to pretend to be the one to jump up and try something new, the whole uncertainty of it all, had her nervous, and gun-shy.

There was a knock on the door and Ella turned to face it. She half expected someone to come in, but they apparently left. Standing Ella went to the door, and found the sodas and sandwiches. "Thank you" she yelled down the hall, as she picked up the food and carried it back to the bed. "Take your pick." Ella said sitting both of the drinks and sandwiches on the bed.
