She was absolutely shocked at the way the doctor had dismissed her. However, it could have been an honest mistake... and if he really was a racist bastard he wouldn't be the first one she'd run into. Kinga was born in the United States, was American through and through, however people saw the color of her skin and ultimately assumed that she must have come from another country. No matter though, she would just have to deal with it if she wanted to obtain one of the most sought after intern positions in diagnostics offered in the country. Interrupting the other man who had spoken she said,
"I'm sorry Doctor, but I think you have me confused with someone else. I'm Kinga Mehra, you called my home about 20 minutes ago telling me to come in for the job? I sent my application about 3 weeks ago."
She stretched out her hand for him to shake, not necessarily expecting him to take it after the rocky start they had just had, but more because she didn't exactly know what to do next. Here she was, and 2 more people had shown up, and it was very near possible she could lose her edge of being first. Unless.. he wasn't taking on more than one, was he? The article in the science journal hadn't mentioned that more than one spot was available, but then again it had never said that there was only one. If that was the case, which she was beginning to think it was, she started to feel sick. Her stomach dropped as she thought back to the harsh words she had spoken to that man before. Well, there would be plenty of time to make it up to him and if not they would probably never see each other again. Instead, she waited with her hand stretched out as a sign of equality and no hard feelings. 6 seconds had already gone by and still her hand was empty.
