“Cassandra Walker, How are you today? This is Dr. House, your boss, and I am wondering why you are home to answer your phone when you should be here looking into a transfer patient. You have twenty minutes to get to my office before I fire you.”

"Late?!" She exclaimed, wanting to get a word in edgewise but the only response was the dial tone.

"Eh-heh. Silly girl-child, a'ready late for her own job." Her aunt chuckled, shuffling the cards much like how it's done in the Casinos.

Cassandra only shot a glare at her but had no time to stir up an argument. She bolted from the kitchen, rounded the corner while snatching the car keys from the rack and made it to the garage. She slipped into the slick, black Acura and shoved the key into the keyhole, listening to her car roar to life.

"I can't believe I'm late. How in the hell? I bet my Aunt forgot to mention I got the job. What an incompetent old bat." She cussed under her breath, clicking the garage button on the side of the key and hitting her car in reverse. "After all, it was she who kept pressuring me to take it after my Supervisor informed me and now she wants me to be late?" She spun the wheel around and put it into drive.

Anger boiled her but she chose to calm down - it was better to drive with her mind in the right place. She sped all the way over to the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital where her new job lies. The moment she parked, she threw her seatbelt off and lept through the open window of her car, lowering it and locking it to make sure no one can take it for a joyride.

She smoothed out her shirt - wait a second. "Argh. I forgot to change." She muttered to herself. "This isn't professional at all." No time to run back, she checked her watch and noticed she was 5 minutes early. To the elevator and up she went, making sure her T-shirt was straight and her jeans had no snags or creases in them. After all, it did hug her curves but it wasn't going to be a factor whether she'd keep her job or not. The fact she was under-dress was.

"Hello." The secretary glanced up

"I'm here to see Dr. House." Cassandra smiled. "I'm-"

The secretary had cut her off, seemingly uncaring for the girl's name. She only pointed with her pen to where she had to go. Cassandra's smile turned to a slight frown, walking down the hall to House's office.

Knock. Knock. Waiting for a response before she walked in.
