Jade awoke, the red display of the clock next to her bed glaringly bright in the dark room. Her 20th floor apartment was always this way; pitch black, the windows all covered in solid black blinds. She could handle the light, though she preferred the darkness. Her eyes pierced the darkness and she moved to get dressed, then pulled a blind to the side, checking that it was in fact plenty dark outside now, the last new rays of sunlight vanishing behind the buildings. She swung the window open and jumped out, landing on the fire escape. In another quick motion she grabbed ladder and slid down to street level, landing on her motorcycle.
Moments later she was headed down the street, heading nowhere in particular yet... normally she'd make her way to a nearby night club. She needed to feed tonight, or else risk her other self surfacing, in which case who knew what would happen. Night clubs were almost always a good place to find food... dark, anonymous, and certainly no shortage of people looking to leave with a beautiful girl. Unfortunately the crowds wouldn't be big enough yet; she'd have to wait. She didn't just pick anyone, though... she had a code of sorts, and tried to pick only those who seem to deserve it the most.
She noticed a lilac-haired woman up ahead, then quickly corrected herself. Wait, no... vampire... she thought as her vampire senses kicked in. Oddly enough, she didn't hand around other vampires very much... feeling like a bit of an outcast... she was, afterall, a daywalker.
