So, peoples thoughts on the Xbox One and how it looks?

WARNING: Below is not a calm and neutral observation but a very angry and furious rant on it.
If you do not want to get heated up or angry at the console (or me if you like the Xbox One) please stop reading now and simply make a reply giving your own opinion on the console. I will not bash people for having different opinions.

Me personally... It looks like the biggest piece of shit that was ever advertised by the gaming community.

First off they barely even touched on video games, they kept going on about graphics, movies, videos, skype and sports.
The only games they even mentioned was Call of Duty, Sports and Racing (And no, Halo doesn't count. They were advertising a TV series, not a game).

Then we got the whole issue with it not being compatible with 360 games, so I can't even sell my 360 and then play those on the Xbox One.
Also if I want to lend a CD to a friend and/or I want to buy a used game that's been out for a few years... you need to paying another damn fee to use the CD.

So now me and my friends can't just lend games to each other to try out, now I can't go buy a cheap used game and enjoy it any more.
You also got the fact that some games might require internet to even play. That completely screws anyone with either:

a) Internet issues
b) No Internet for their console

Not even Steam (an online game store) is like that, at least they have off line mode so games you do own can still be played offline.
Then there's the news that the Kinect will detect how many people you have watching a movie or TV show on the console at once, and if the Kinect deems there's too many people watching then it will charge you an additional fee to watch it.

Want to invite the family or a group of friends over to watch a Movie or TV Show together? Oh give us more money please!

Now let's look at the actual game part they chose to talk about... Call of Duty.

I won't comment on the author for the story since I don't know much about him and peoples opinions on quality writing and story vary greatly.
But I will make a comment on the graphics and 'new game play features'.

First off, they did a side by side comparison to show Ghosts graphics were better. And they were, slightly.
But did anyone notice that while MW3's graphics shown was gameplay footage that Ghosts was just single models in front of black or white screen?
In other words they had to focus on nothing but the model so it could look at high quality as possible?
Once it's thrown in with the back ground, movement, shooting etc you can expect it's graphics quality to drop and not be as good as it's built up to be.

And then the gameplay features, move over small cover and fish move out of the way...

Really? They're not even trying if that's all they have to care about.
Oh, you can customize your guys appearance now... great, Call of Duty now has a feature that almost every other game has had for many years ago. Good going for catching up.

Honestly, I think the Xbox One has become a Television console, it shouldn't even be considered a gaming console.

Edit: Some funny news though, apparently people had issues trying to watch this video over their 360's if they had Kinect.
Reason being whenever they said the word 'Xbox' the console would either pause the video or go back to the consoles home page. :ezlol:

Herro Boys and girls.

I personally got started RPing on a little game called SS-13 back in 2006. Recently I got quite tired of the horrible quality of the recently established Roleplaying servers and me and some close friends created our own. Starbase Janus, a rather serious Roleplaying server with a completely different lore, 200+ new items, new map in the works, Friendly administrators and a dedicated and extremely friendly players. But sadly, SS-13 doesn't really have a serious RP community. I thought some of you guys might be interested in trying it out as a new way to roleplay. Here's the website: https://starbasejanus.net// Hope you guys will check it out

Sorry if it's in the wrong place, and I don't mean to seem to be advertising my server. Just thought you guy might be interested in it

Note: This is mostly just me talking about my revisit to HL1.

So, I went back to HL1 since I was a bit bored today on a free day. I figured it would be a bit of fun while I passed some time before dinner. However to my surprise I just couldn't stop playing. Just one more level, just those few more enemies, just to see what's around the corner. And in the end I finished the game in one day, in one run. Took me...about 10~12 hours I think? I know there's a ton of accusations that people wear nostalgia glasses when it comes to the games they grew up with, but in my opinion I've not been wearing them with half life. It's still every bit as fun, interesting and engaging as it was the first time I played it. Something I rarely get with modern shooters. The last one I truly found engaging to play was Bioshock Infinite, and that was still not as engaging as HL1 for me. It comes close though. And before that it was FEAR 1. Granted, I was playing the one that was updated with the source engine since the original one wasn't available. But it's not exactly different from the original apart from the graphics.

Anyway, anyone else had such an experience as well? Where you decided to play an old game again, and found that it was still every bit as fun as when it first came out/when you first played it?

By 'Facts Only' in the title, I mean only this: the original post (the one you're reading now) will be edited periodically and updated (with corresponding update posts, if necessary) with facts only. Discussion of any and all kinds is of course welcome, so long as everybody remains civil (keep the 'BAAAAHOBAMASUCKS/LOLREPUBLICANSGAY' to a minimum). Your posts, and responses to them (even from myself), may contain any information you or I or anybody sees fit to include. That might mean opinion pieces, pictures, statements, or even facts. Links in this original post will be fact-only by design; if you wish to dispute one of the links, or add a source of your own choosing, feel free to suggest as much and I'll respond in a timely manner.

So to reiterate: I'm not going to frame this discussion here, I'm just going to link to factual sources regarding the September 11, 2012 attacks on the US consulate in Benghazi. Why am I starting this topic now, instead of several months ago? I didn't want to do it during the election, because that's poison-water and we dothraki don't cross what our horses can't drink. Uh..... yeah. Anyway CNN sent me an update today regarding a White House release of approximately 100 pages of emails between the CIA and the State Department; I went and checked them out, and now I'm sharing them. So that's why now -- CNN made me do it.

9/14 emails, released on 5/15/2013, hosted on TheBlaze.com -- page 13 seems relevant to a lot of discussions. Fair warning, this isn't an easy read, because it's a lot of raw forwarding and repetition, but it's worth your time if you want to know what you're talking about, and how Washington agencies work/communicate.

More later, when I feel like adding; for now, read, educate, discuss amongst yourselves

Not sure if anyone would know anything about this, but I'm in my parents camper at the moment and they told me to run the water faucet for a very long time to get the antifreeze out. I'd have to say inaccurately that I ran it for 30 minutes to an hour yesterday. I'm not sure if low water pressure has anything to do with it. Some times shifting from cold to hot there is a hint of an odd smell from the water. I made some ramen noodles with the water, they taste kind of weird, but I wouldn't say displeasing. If anyone knows, I'd like to know if you think my water is safe to use and my noodles are safe to eat.

My parents are currently unreachable.

Yoyoyo RpG. Next semester I'll be taking an intro to creative writing class, and in it I'll eventually have to write my own novel. However, reflecting on this I realize I haven't read a book in quite awhile and feel very, very rusty on writing skills/etiquette/whatever, just general good writing and such. Many people have told me one way to improve such skills is to read a bit.

So, I was wondering if anyone had any good reads to suggest. Ideally it should be fantasy-themed, though I'd like to stay away from more Tolkien-esque settings, if you know what I mean. Thanks to anyone who can help.

I just finished reading my entry for WOTW #2 which was in 2011, and I really enjoyed seeing how I've become a better writer over the years and also the things I'd like to re-establish about my writing. I was in second place, about two votes from winning that round, and I was really impressed with myself. My piece was titled "freedom" though I doubt anyone remembers.

So, I was wondering, does anyone else like to compare past work to your present work and find the pro's and con's? How have you improved? What is one thing you liked or disliked about your old writing?
