Poorly designed? I wouldn't say that, it's a very technically sound weapon. Why? Because it's using rounds that only revolvers can use, and it's doing it well. It's just one of those weapons that serve in a real niche market that has no place on any sort of combat situation. One of those rich guns or redneck guns.

Of course, I'm not trying to push my opinion that the DE sucks on everybody. I do like how it looks in black; and I'm suspect to using it on RP's myself (usually in .357.). Because it has a bit of a dramatic effect to everything that's easier for people who aren't so gunofied like myself to get as "Holy shit, really big boomstick"

The original Desert Eagle, wich was chambered in a .357 (or was it .44?) magnum was originaly designed as a combat service pistol however it could not out proform any of the modern (at that time modern) combat sidearms, that and throw in a rather hefty price it wasnt what one would call a practical side arm. the frame designe was an exclent one though and had potential for chambering in higher cals. with little modification.

and the .50 AE is not soley a revolver round it actualy made its apearence in sevral other mag based pistols befor it was used in the DE

I agree with Dustin.
It has a few Faults But it is still a fine firearm.
It's just far from the best.
It can bet a 9mm, at least

I'd carry a 9mm over a DE for many reasons, but yeah.

Ick a 9mm? dude smallest I would carry is a .40 largest is a .45 longcolt

Try a Glock 18 with an extended 31 round magazine and three shot burst fire option. fires at 1200 RPM. Used by law enforcement and the military. If you feeling juicy the standard models can use the .45 rounds. They're also fairly easy to fit into any RP as they're fairly easy to get ahold of (Apart from the 18 unless your playing a soldier of securty agent of some kind).

Okay, here's a small list of familiar weapons for most people.

The ever popular M16. Really, a fine assault rifle. But an old one with a flaw that makes it not so much the little darling of the army mostly because they're cheap bastards who want nothing but 100% better.

It has something called a Direct-Impingement Gas system. Which means the gasses expelled from the round is sprayed right back into the chamber. It's easier to care for and cheaper, but it fouls up like crazy in the right envrioments (I.E. Desert) But for anywhere else, I'd probably use it. Provided it wasn't some long extended fighting.

This is the weapon I'd want if anything really shitty went down. The AK-47. You can't stop this thing from firing. It's literally impossible. I've heard a story in Veitnam about Marines pulling out a Veitcong corpse from months of muck and grime all over him. One of the marines just dusted off the assault rifle and fired 30 rounds.

In short, if zombies actually did come. I'd want this thing.

Can somebody say "Buckshot tango?" The USAS-12 is just sort of a shotgun I'd love to have all the time. Semi-automatic with I believe 10 round mags or 20 round drums.

Ah, that's it for now, my attention span is coming and going at the moment. But I'll post more guns throughout the thread.

Dude the next time you call that POS weapon that passes for an assult rifle a 'fine assault rifle.' I will find where you live and bust you in the mouth. I have had nothing but problems with M16's even the new M16A4 I was issued makes me want to vomit. 3 round burst while ok for longer ranges is still crapy I would rather fire semi auto at those ranges anyways and have a full auto for when the hadji jumps me while I am room clearing.

Ok the Ak is not as god like as some people hype it to be I own one and while rugged and sturdy and not prone to jamming its stall a falible gun. My Ak has jammed on me before......once. I will say that it is a work of art but trust me some of the storys you hear about it are a little exagerated.

edit: My anti Zombie gun would be My G3 or FN FAL .308 goodness
