OK, well, I've only been here a short amount of time, but I've noticed a wide gap between the competent RPs and the not so competent RPs. So, I've decided to write a series of articles on the subject. I'll start with the notion of forum roleplaying.
Forum Roleplaying: There are a variety of types and styles of forum roleplay. The basic idea is to develop a collaborative story with fellow players, usually with a variety of characters, all partaking in a single plot line. What this means is that at the center of the idea is cooperation and interaction. A roleplay will be completely un-entertaining if the actions of each player have no effect on the other players. Additionally, every post should try to provide something to the environment, story line, character development or at the very least level of entertainment. That means that in every post you should describe at least a little about the environment and every single post should at least give a little bit of insight into a character. ((OK, so, I have to go eat now. I'll type more later)) |
