Default RpG Philosophical Journal

Ladies and Gentlmen, you know that I've created the independent RpG AP newsletter. Now, I've decided to go more in-depth with my skills on talking your minds out. Here I present you the first philosophical article. You can come here often whenever you're bored and wish to bring this information back to your teachers and professors and completely stun them on my genius which you will probably steal many times to make yourself look like a brainiac.

This week, I present to you the following; an interior case over the LD resolution: An oppressive government is better than no government at all.

-------------

Contention 1: A democracy is more readily achieved through oppression than anarchy.
Sub Point 1: When a people or nation is opposed by its oppressors with force and are un-willfully commanded to perform inhumane acts, then the horizon for freedom is automatically set as a standard goal in Masolw’s Hierarchy of Human Needs. This horizon (or Self-Actualization) is best viewed as a government freed from oppression (such as democracy).

Where there is limited liberty: there is hope.
Where there is limited happiness: there is determination.
Where there is limited life: there is quick action.

Those who are under a government with an oppressive state can see the difference between other governments better than those under anarchy or no government because they are under there a style of government themselves. Whereas, those under anarchy or no government have trouble seeing the differences because they have no institutions in which to compare styles with. Therefore, the hierarchy of human needs only exists on a personal level with anarchists, rather than on a nationwide level with those who are influenced by government institutions.

Sub Point 2: Anarchy is a nation-state without any formal institutions what-so-ever. This provides no flexibility for the establishment of any type of government.

Oppressive governments, on the other hand, have some form of formal institutions in which the government must be able to stand on.

In order for self-actualization (or democratic ideals) to be withheld, there must be a basis or platform on which the two can stand. What is a horizon without the curvature of the Earth in the far distance? Institutions form a gateway for flexible change.

Contention 2: Democracy thru these channels leads more to self-actualization.
Sub Point 1: If self-actualization is what this oppressed nation is struggling for, then let the horizon be that of democracy. Democracy offers freedom, liberty, and hope; the very fundamentals that our democracy was founded upon.

Let democracy be the suppressed people’s first choice, and let democracy be the suppressed people’s final choice.

Sub Point 2: Abrahm Maslow’s idea of self-actualization is the condition of total happiness and knowing that one has accomplished one’s goals and attained self-fulfillment. Even though democracy can’t offer total happiness; it is clearly the best earthly possibility next to any other form of earthly government. Therefore, democracy through these channels (thru the resolution) leads better to self-actualization – which in turn proves that an oppressive government is better than no government.
