Default Dove's Bane - ooc

A simplistic fairy tale (or is it?) regarding a knight and his search for the woman who can save his country.

IC Thread

Gyrii - Standard fantasy land, with requisite monsters, dragons, fairies, elves, etc - grossly overpopulated by humans. Gyriiis surrounded on all sides by other lands, both hostile and not as hostile, but all peaceful due to Gyrii's good luck in always winning wars. There is both an eastern mountain range (called the "Eastern Range" - they're not big on imagination in Gyrii) and by a northern river flowing west (named "The Northern Riv- no, it has a real name. "Murrag's' Road" - thus called for requisite fantasy myth about the King of the Fae, Murrag taking it to escape the humanity encroaching upon his hidden lands. He, rather than floating down it, transformed into a great salmon and swam up it to the far east where he now lives and bides his time in the Eastern Range, just beyond Dragon Peaks - told you they had little imagination)

Probable Cast of characters: character sheet not required, minimum requirements for each character in place, otherwise, make the character your own.
  • Knight at end of prologue (taken by M@x da man) - (age: experienced - say early thirties), one of the king's best, man who is the paragon of honor, has a moral code, and believes his world revolves around doing what he must do for his kingdom. He is unaware of his history or if he has any. But that doesn't matter to a good ol' knight fellow really.
  • Magician (taken by ko_fyre) - (age: old) cantankerous, rusty in that magic isn't so very quick to come to his bidding, if it comes at all.
  • "Dove": future bride or so they say(taken by Touch of Temperament) - (age: anything over 20) please PM if you're interested^ Extenuating circumstances.
  • King of Gyrii: (taken by Darkhawk) mid to late twenties. Second born to the throne. His elder brother drowned while the king was still too young to think much of having an older brother.
  • The lovely Lady Love of the King (unbeknownst to him "but knownst to us")(taken by Nixie): (age - any age, so long as it's legal) She is whomever might be near him yet not noticed, or noticed but not acceptable for a king, or simply not aware of his affections - some manner of being unable to connect, up to you.
  • Those belonging to various groups as they become available throughout story and the travels of the knight and/or political machinations of the king [including but not limited to revolutionaries of various species, lords and ladies of the court, bit-part heroes, evil bandits, scary swamp monsters, and other such fun creatures to see and be along the way.] Feel free to take on more than one character if you so desire.

Story will be following both the king on one hand, and more initially, that of the king's knight. Both stories have equal weight at different times. Please be aware that the purpose of this is two fold - 1. To take you through a story. 2. To develop your character and the world in which your character finds him/herself.

Magic use is limited to magic users - most people don't use it. It's fantasy. Elrond got to use his particular magic, Gandalf got to use his. The rest of the poor slobs had to muck through without but always bothered by it and the creatures of it.

This is fairly straight forward in that there will be a DM and the concept can't be missed. There's bound to be some romantic machinations and all, which of course will make everyone's life more miserable. Also, there are a great many NPCs and I can use a multitude of them to direct action if it is needed. This is more of an amusement ride with a start, middle, and finish.

Go find dee girl! And try and keep your country from falling apart when it goes to hell in a handbasket.

Important: Until the Dove has been "found", should you wish to have a character interact with the Dove, please PM me for extenuating circumstances.

I am totally our cranky old wizard friend :3

I'll reveal him as the story progresses, but I'm not sure where exactly he would come in so... I shall remain on "pause" until further notice

I'd like to join as just a side character. I need to develop a character of mine anyway...

And this would be prefect.

Kio - you're welcome to be on the road if you wish. We're setting players into place. The "dove" has a go on putting the character into her place (later to be discovered) and the knight is on his way. The sooner we have the knight and the wizard meet up, the better.

Then again, I trust your sense of the flow of the story. If you feel it better to meet up later, then I'll go with whatever you choose.

I'm almost sure we've got someone set up to be the knight. If I don't hear from them today, I'll take it until someone else can.

(I can't wait to meet your wizard. Heh heh)

Dazzled: Wonderful! At present, we've a road trip to take. It will be nice to have more in the traveling party. You are very welcome to take part in the story. Or, if you'd rather, you may take up place in the court. That part of the story remains fairly undeveloped at the moment, as the initial action is with the knight. Feel free to set up camp at either end of the story.

I'm wondering if, in order to keep our characters clear, we might consider using colors. Your main C could have white and anyone outside of that could have another color (or vice versa). I will leave this up to you all. It is merely an idea if things get complicated later on down the line.

I'm a bit odd about colors (sometimes it works for me, sometimes it makes me go elsewhere) as some are harder to read than others and some are actually annoying to look at. Yet again, it can make it easier to find whomever you're playing with in a complicated story.

Oh heck no, Dazzled! You can join! I'd never say no to someone wanting to jump in. The more writers we have, the more chances for direction in the story. I'm sorry I hadn't made it more plain.

Yes. Please join. Glad to have you.

Cool. Now I can develop Lirone more. She's my unicorn character.

Do I need to fill out a character sheet or anything?

I'd like to sink my quill in the knight, and I'd like to have a chat with whomever gets the Dove when that's decided. I just had some ideas. :P

Max - Knight is yours. Ideas are grand. I'll let ToT make connections and whatever the pair of you figure out is fine with me. I will be upfront with you in that I've an "agenda"... hopefully we won't run at cross purposes. I attempted to make it fairly malleable so everyone could adjust the story without overly affecting the outcome, but you never know.

Dazzled: You don't need a C-sheet. And a unicorn. That should prove to be really interesting! Especially since there's more than enough room in this world for creatures like unicorns.

The game is on and you're welcome to post. I'll set the stage, shall I? Area you'll be moving through and all of that. Then let folks get it. Welcome minna!
