Roleplayer Guild - Forum Roleplaying Games

It is not in my normal behavior to create roleplays based on popular media, but I thoroughly enjoy House and know that other people do as well. Considering the popularity of the show I figured it would be a fun roleplay to have. I decided to make it an advanced roleplay because I think as a drama there is a lot of room for character development and I just assumed it would be best suited for Advanced. Also since the subject matter requires maturity I decided it best to make it advanced since a lot of the beginner players tend to be younger whereas the advanced players seem to be older. In addition to the rules that are common to this site and the advanced board the following rules apply:

1. You may NPC any other the major character in the RP, except Dr. House who I will be playing as my character.

2. Your character should not be based on one of the character from the show likewise you shouldn't recreate a character from the show, I only am because Dr. House will be integral to the story, obviously.

3. No post should be less than 2 paragraphs, I dont want to hear things like, "I didn't know how to elaborate on walking down the hall." You can always write about what your character is thinking or give some exposition on his/her past. Speaking of narration you should post all narration in third person limited. Your character can speculate on the thoughts of other but you do not know them.

4. You should be familiar with the show, preferably you should have seen the most recent season, but at least know the premise and have seen enough of the show to understand the character's personalities.

5. Anytime you NPC a character from the show you should be playing them true to the personality that is presented in the show.

6. All OOC chatter should be contained here, if you post anything OOCly in the IC thread it should look like this: This is OOC Chatter. That is slate gray with italics.

7. All dialogue, in addition to being in quotes should be in this format, "This is dialogue." Dialogue should be in medium turquoise.

About your Character and Joining the RP:

This RP will not be following the specific story presented in the show, though some similarities will be presented, but all of the characters you will be playing do not exist in the show and the story will be my re-hashing of season 4. If you arent too familiar with the plot of season four read the wikipedia article and watch a few episodes on Fox.com before joining. Joining the game requires two simple steps, first post here saying you are, optionally post a character profile but that isn't needed because your first post should tell us basic information about your character. Step two is to make your first post, read mine to get an idea of starting exposition for your character. All of your characters are to be potential doctors on House's team. You are all competing for the job and work for House in a contest similar to the plot of season four.

OK Well I basically flipped out when I read the original post. I love House. Call me an addict if you will... But Sadly I've been in Poland and haven't watched Season 4 because we don't have it yet. But anyways I'll read up on it in case its super important but I've seen every single other episode.

So could I be Cuddy? Or would you rather a new character?

You are fully welcome to play even if you haven't seen season four as long as you read up on it a little. I would also prefer that you create a new doctor and keep Cuddy for NPC use. You will be playing a doctor who is competing for a position on House's team, to replace Cameron, Chase, and Foreman. Anyway glad to see some interest already.

Thats completely fine. I read up on it and even though it kinda spoiled my chances of fully enjoying the reruns I'm definitely in on this one.

Job Title: Doctor competing for a spot on the team
Field: Background education in gynecology but switched her specialty to diagnostics.
Notes: Had a miscarriage which is why she switched out of gynecology, it was too traumatic for her. Comes from a very traditional Indian family and married into one however her husband left her after the baby died because his family was disgraced and believed she was cursed. However, her peers including the great Dr. House know nothing of her past. Yet.
Personality: Really smart, almost too smart. She lacks personality due to her traditional upbringing and is almost like a book. Kinga knows the answers to almost every question, but creativity is sometimes lacking. House's methods tend to shock her but he is the best and she wants the best.

Tis very good, feel free to post IC whenever you want. Also sorry you had to have season four spoiled. I should've noted that I only needed you to know the basic idea you didn't have to know the results, so I am very sorry. Also I didn't notice you were looking for approval, I looked over the character yesterday but missed the "tis good?" so I was wondering why you didn't post lol. Anyway no big deal just post when you get a chance. Also it is probably important to note now for you, myself, and everyone else obviously I am not the medical genious of House and I am aware that most of the people who will play this game aren't either. I am not expecting you to have a vast wealth of medical knowledge so just wing it and do what you know. The game will focus more on the social interactions and on the trivial tasks House will assign the competing members of the team. The game will also focus on the interaction between the competitors and the subtle backstabbing that may occur. So good luck and do what your best, feel free to sound all medical if you want to though because there will be some focus on medicine.

I watch House every-now-and-then, but I'm completely familiar with season four. Although, I am aware of the competition between the interns competing for the replacements. I also know that bitch wasn't one of the ones chosen. I hope that's enough qualification. I would like to join, but I would like to be patient if that's okay. I thought it would be interesting to be someone with a condition this time.

I figured I could throw in a patient with an unknown cancer strand that should prove to be a challenge for Dr. House and his interns to figure out. But here's the interesting thing: is it cancer? ....or something else? o.O
