Nyxia - Nyxia - Located on the coast of the Gaeian sea Nyxia is truly a sight to behold. Boasting a Market District on the coastial side contructed with marble, gold, silver and obsidian buildings. The homes of the ruling Shurkiz Houses proudly line the streets and all major external trade occurs here at the sea side docks. Connected to the Market District are the Working Districts, the middle class of Nyxia. Here we find buildings constructed of stone and nice interlocking granite pathways. The races who inhabit this sector carry reasonable wealth and work in the factories, mills, bars and other areas of the district. Fianlly, outside of the cities great wall is the Outskirts - or the city slums. Here lives the individuals who have no control over magic. The Shurkiz ensure that they have no material wealth by having them taxed on a weekly basis. There is one other district in the city - seating at the center is the Guild District where the official guild halls are located. The Guilds contract out work for their members and ensure fair trade for all. Among the offical ones included the Craftsmens Guild, Merchants Guild, Mage Guild and the Mercenary Guild. The city is ruled by a sucession of Shurkiz houses, each ruled by a Matron Mother and each seeking to undermine the higher ranking houses to usurp their roles. The highest ranking family lives in the Palace while each rank down has lesser homes. Every fortnight the matrons gather to discuss politics and divide up the most recent tax collection. Deception and trickery are second only to magical prowess amongst the Shurkiz. Races: Shurkiz - The most powerful mages and the defined ruling class. The live in the Market District exclusively and despise all lesser beings (those who are not Shurkiz and more so those who have no control over magic). They resemble humans but have a silver tint to their flesh and brightly coloured eyes of unique shades (ex: purple). Life Expectancy: 600 years Nako - Arguably the cutest race in all the lands. These half breeds who are a mix of Shurkiz and animal are often called (degradingly) Furries. They are noted by their either cat-like or rabbit-like features (ears, tails and/or paws). They have considerable magical skills, thought not nearly as natural or powerful as their half-kin. The Nako primarily inhabit the Working Districts. Live Expectancy: 400 years Dwarva - Short, plump and talkitive. This race is the most conversational and most skilled in the crafts. They are responsible for the wonderful arcitechture of the Market District and as a result the prividged few who are non Shurkiz who live there are Dawrva (usually as personal servants to a Shurkiz matron). Otherwise the inhabit the Working Districts and can be found in taverns gambling or drinking when not busy at their chosen craft. Life Expectancy: 230 years Lyzira - Lizardfolk from the swamplands. They are generally short tempered and often solve problems with claw and fang. Due to their raw strength and persusivness the Lyzira are the only race with limited magical talents that exist in the middle class - they have magic resistant flesh however and it is suspected that this is why the Shurkiz permit them to have wealth. Live Expectancy: 550 years Huma - Effectively what we would call Humans. These poor creatures have no magical skills and nothing really exceptional to lay claim to. They are the most discriminated of all of the races - being forced to live without any wealth in the poorest district and never permitted entry into the city. Life Expectancy: 100 years ~~~ In this non-linear roleplay you will find yourself playing one or two characters emersed within the city. They can be anything from Shurkiz leaders or Huma peasants seeking revenge or just survival. Your imagination is your only limitation. Some basic rules: - Every character must have a vice (you cannot be just and honourable. Everyone has a problem, there are no truly virtuous heroes) - You must be approved before joining the role play (IE: submit your character sheet to me via PM or posting here) - No power gaming - If you want to add a race, or faction or something to the world that is fine, but it must be approved by myself first - Have fun and play fair A note about technology: Looking at a fantasy world with your standard Final Fantasy type of tech. Swords and bows along side magic and projectile weaponry (IE: guns powered by magic) balanced and equally usable. Name: Spencer "Space" Sarceaux Race: Huma Sex: Male Home District: Outskirts Guild (or house name if Shurkiz): Craftsman Guild Vice: Suffers from disorganized-schizophrenia (Sometimes unable to discern between reality and fantasy. May speak to himself or occasionally believe himself to be another. Symptoms are uncommon - usually medicated.) Personality: Space is well versed in manners and etiquette when it comes to showing respect to his superiors. On his own time, he usually keeps to himself, quiet and secluded in the corner of a tavern or quietly working to repair some sort of delicate machinery. He has conflicting feelings and emotions when it comes to every day life and situations. A curse of his mental disease. Some days he can't stand to be around people where others he can't live without it. Some days he may have a terrible attitude where others he just wants to cut up and have a good time. If Space had friends, he'd be fiercely loyal and protective of them. He tends to form attachments fairly easy. This goes for animate as will as inanimate objects. History: Space grew up in the normal way other Huma children grow. Both parents worked as many jobs as possible to keep up with the weekly taxes let alone provide at least a moderate lifestyle for their son. Growing up, he tended collect bits and parts of discarded appliances, splicing pieces in generous childish attempts to invent a new commodity to make life easier in the slums. At eighteen he set out on his own out of guilt for hindering his family's finances and has spent the past five years providing for himself by doing odd jobs, mostly repairs and sometimes grunt work. Other: * Has skills with machinery and technological hardware. Can repair most things unless excruciatingly complicated. * Usually carries with him a moderate supply of tools. * Does have combat experience courtesy his old man. Is well versed in wielding bladed fist weapons, though he hasn't fought in a many number of years. [I do have a second character, will add his sheet later.]

Race: Shurkiz Sex: Female Home District: Market district Guild (or house name if Shurkiz):House Shenarii Matron Mother of the 4th Ruling house Vice: Bipolar Personality:Aderrain's mood swings that can change in an instant History: Aderrian and her twin brother are the middle children. She was born with a magical gift and began training at a very young age. Her mental disorder surfaced at the very young age of 5. Her mood changes rapidly and her twin brother is said to be the only one who can calm her and bring her to a stable state. Her older sister was murdered when Aderrain was 71 years of age and only her and her brother know how she died. By the time she reached the age of 100 she dethroned her mother and took control over House Shenarii. Every since then the House Shenarii has thrived. Other: Aderrain seeks to become the leader of the First house of the city.

Race: Huma Age: 20 Sex: Male Home District: City Outskirts Vice: Kar is an insomniac and rarely sleeps, because of this he is prone to blackouts and seizures normally brought on by sheer exhaustion. Personality: Kar is very reclused and secrative, he finds interacting difficult and suffers from paranoia, another symtpom of his chronic insomnia. History: Kar became an orphan at a very young age; his Mother died during his birth and his father was killed in a shipping accident whilst away at sea. He was raised in an orphanage and had no education and predictably has fallen into the criminal underground of Nyxia. He earns a living as a thief and a pickpocket and is a well known as a crook by the authorities of the city. Other: He is well skilled in the arts of thievery and stealth. His feats have been well scouted by the Dons of the Nyxian underworld and at present has little trouble finding employment. Do I have the go-ahead to make my first post?

Race: Lyzira Sex: Male Home District:Outskirts Guild: Mercenary Guild Vice: Talyn is hunted by many cause of him being an assassin. He also hates it when people touch his equipment. Personality: Very hot tempard, always does what he says he is going to do, never lets his missions down, and loves the wilderness History:Talyn is from the FireyFang tribe in the swaps outside of Nyxia, so Talyn never really knew his parents. Once Talyn came of age for his kind to become a warrior, their was a great war between his tribe and the Bloodclaw tribe and lost many friends in the war. That when Talyn left his home to become an assassin. Other: Talyn is a woodsman, and hates being in a house. He can track and find herbs for healing and poisons for his arrows.
