Section 1.B: Accepted Character Information
Major Roles Name: Horus (Edon) Age: 4 Months Gender: Male? Rank: 'Smart' AI Position: Ship-wide A.I. Assistant Appearance: Horus has no exterior appearance; choosing to interact with the crew via audio links. His voice is as close to human as possible and comes across sounding like a male's, very straight forward with a slight American draw to it. Biography: Horus was constructed at the Nevada Space Cradle in orbit around Terra. It took a work crew of approximately two million to finish the ship's construction. The Artificial Intelligence sits at the core of the ship, and was activated four months ago; about halfway through completion to assist with his own construction and test ship systems. Notable Skills: Simulated human emotions. Direct control over all systems. Built in restraints to preserve the crew. Name: Avery Summers (Edon) Age: 45 Gender: Male Rank: Captain Position: Commanding Officer (Captain) Appearance: His streaked black hair is well trimmed and short but is still long enough to be considered messy. Though well within military regulation and well out of his way. Avery's face is grizzled and hard; with a thick jaw, heavy set nose and wide brown alert eyes. He gives off the feeling of a constantly alert bird of prey as he sits in the Captain's chair. His tone is gruff as well and coarse like sandpaper; adapted to years of barking orders and snapping arses into line. Used to working in the hot sun, and the offspring of an Asian/English pairing he has a lightly tanned skin tone. Regardless of his rough looks he still has a softer side when it comes to diplomacy and reserves his tough tooth-and-nails demeanor for the worst scenarios. Biography: Born and raised in the former United States, Avery is a 100% American; what ever thats good for now. After the first nuclear war the states shattered into East and West; leading to a second conflict which tore most of the country to shreds. Fighting for his life in the second civil war Avery grew up with death at his back and violence to his front. When the fighting had stopped and the dust had settled he decided to put his military experience to good use; and entered training for the Horus crew. He took thousands of courses on leadership, flight dynamics, FTL warp-field mechanics, spacial engineering classes, and has clocked 500 hours in the simulator. During all this he became more stable and finally got to bury the war and the people he hurt; focusing instead of hope. All in all he is mentally and physically prepared for what ever lies ahead; the only question in his mind is if his crew is. Notable Skills: Used to micro-manging systems, has years of experience fighting enemies on all fronts, listens closely to his crew; noting what they say as opposed to how they say it. Name: Amanda Simons (imaginative_thinker) Age: 24 Gender: Female Rank: Lieutenant Position: Science Officer Appearance/Personality: Amanda has long, straight blond hair that reaches to the small of her back, cut straight off with no bangs. She parts it in the middle (occasionally, if she is feeling like putting any effort into it, she will twist it up in a clip to keep it out of the way). She wears long, durable (and semi-water-resistant) pants that she shortened so they would not drag. Some might say they are a little shorter than desired, but she wants no safety hazard that could get between her and her job. She wears a fitted army-green cotton t-shirt (revealing a fit and curving figure, though she doesn't notice it) and a forest-green zip-up, loose fitting jacket with her rank pinned in the upper right side of the collar. She has a plant leaf and test tube stamped on her right breast area of the jacket to indicate her position. Her fingers are stained a mute green around the cuticles and tips. She is a firm believer in herbal suppliments and green tea. She takes things seriously, and often personally. She is quiet when unneeded and tends to mumble when she speaks, though her words often make a great deal more sense than people give her credit for. Eye contact is a problem. She wears thin rectangular glasses outlined in black (she doesn't like the way contacts feel, nor how temperamental they can be; glasses offer better protection). She constantly factors out how to keep herself safe (and those around her, making her an asset to any team) and reduce risks involved. She is connected at the hip to the plants in the Aeroponics Bay and the ship's AI Horis. She reads incessantly in her spare time - anything she can get her hands on. At times this can make her nosy and tends to get on people's nerves. She is very quiet when she walks and has been known to startle people for seeming to appear right beside them and walk quite a ways before announcing herself. Biography: Amanda does not have a particularly noteworthy childhood. She grew up on a farm, only to abandon it at the age of five because the land was no longer fertile. She always loved the feel of the soil beneath her fingers and the genetics of plants. She was honored to share a birthday with Gregor Mendel; when she blew out her candles she would secretly wish that the monk could be there with her so she could ask him what was going through his mind as he tested the various pea plants. Her parents were far too old to have children, that they had her was a miracle. She was always their prized possession - because of that they watched her too carefully, not letting her out on "outings" with other friends her age. But they were happy to encourage her love of literature and science, two noteworthy subjects in their minds. They also instilled in her a passion for family history and what Terra had meant to them. She excelled in school and won many awards. Her mother mounted them to a plaque at home, but save for that, no one would know that Amanda was a winner. She won a scholarship to an Ivy League school, accepted at her parents' push, and excelled again. She studied because it was what she was supposed to do, and her intuition (almost a "sixth sense" you could say) got her the rest of the way to straight A's. She went on to earn lots of money researching plant genetics and finding a cure for cancer. She had no intention of joining the military, but when she was asked to be a member of the Horus crew, she couldn't refuse. They offered her free reign with top-of-the-line medical, scientific, and aeroponics equipment. Her parents had died five years back, and she knew it would make them proud. And Terra was a wasteland...there was nothing to hold her there. So, as with everything she does, she meticulously researched it and learned all about the AI within Horus, as well as what it had to offer, before even setting foot on the ship. Notable Skills: highly intuitive, knowledge of chemistry and genetics, avid reader ("book smart") Other: She has a Venus Fly Trap named Kirby and a Parrot named Ferdinand. They have been allowed as a "special exception to protocol" because she wrote a long paper on how they could help provide scientific advancement and act as a morale booster. She could be very persuasive (in writing) when it came to things dear to her. Name: Miya-Rae Templestone (Shadow Walker) Age: 25 Gender: Female Rank: Leiutenant Position: Helm Officer Apperance: Pale peach skin with freckles scattered about. Light green almond-shaped eyes. Miya-Rae has a deep red mohawk the falls just above her upper lip, she never bothers putting it up anymore. She is of average height, and a little thinner than she should be. There are scars found on her ears from piercings she no longer bothers wearing, because she always had to take them out for work. Two on each lobe, and one on her left helix. She also has a tattoo that is rarely seen because it is on her right shoulder blade; it is a bold outline of a star that is a little smaller than the average person's palm. She is often seen in her uniform - a gray short-sleeved button down shirt decorated with two bars on the shoulder, and a mission patch a couple inches below the bars; she usually wears a tank-top under it. Along with her work shirt, she wears black work pants and shined black shoes. Miya-Rae's casual wear is very simple, usually jeans, t-shirt, and sneakers. Notable Skills: Quick thinker, Mathematic Knowledge, Machanic Knowledge Last edited by Edon : 07-18-2008 at 08:01 PM. |

Section 1.B: Accepted Character Information (Continued)
Name: David Armand (Aeradom) Age: 28 Gender: Male Rank: Lieutenant Commander Position: Chief Tactical Officer. Appearance: David is a young man that has seen much in his short life and it shows in his appearance, some ways being subtle while others are much more overt. From head to toe he is the symbol of modern Marine expectation for dress and physique. His brown hair cut short to meet with regulation specs, and he religiously maintains a smooth face. His body is well maintained from the constant exercise. Even on board ship voyages he finds ways to keep his athletic build maintained. David is a firm believer in always being prepared, will most often be seen in the standard combat armor with his rifle on his back. This two piece armored suit consists of a hard outer layer made of an advance composite material to break up small arm rounds that impact it, and an inner gel layer to absorb the energy. The color composition can be changed, but on board ship it is regulation grays. It is considered an insult to wear the helmet while on duty, though in combat situations will be donned. The Marine Corps has given him much more then muscular physique and a fashionable suit. His blue eyes, once gems full of naivety and excitement, are now shrouded and paled clouded by the images of horror that he received serving in the most inhospitable places on Earth during peacekeeping missions. Due to his times spent in areas that are ravaged by solar radiation from a depleted Ozone, his skin has taken tanned disposition. The last gift given to him, that he received During the Battle of Moscow, is a scar that runs from his temple to his jawbone from a piece of debris that sliced across his face. Modern medical technology is able to remove the scar but he has chosen to keep it as a reminder to be on alert at all times. Biography: From the day he was born, all he knew was destitute. His family resided in the ruins of New York, along the outskirts. Disease was rampant, Radiation poison was common, Food was scarce. Only one in four children born in the area survived at the time, and many who did survive had deformities. Only he and his younger sister survived out of seven children. Both of his parents died at the age of six from a group of raiders, who were searching from food. All this hardship would have darkened the heart of any other man, but David held true. He believed that Humanity could achieve so much more. He saw that hope in his sister, which he raised from the age of six. David protected and provided for her, eventually leading her and a small group of friends to the glory of New Chicago where they were able to find help. Because David had no formal education of any kind, he decided to leave his sister with a kind elderly family and join the Marines at the age of 18, so that he could continue to protect his sister and provide for her in a new way. His time in the Marines was decorated and filled with accolades as he served all over the world. However, it was at New Cairo where he earned his pay. Surrounded by a group of four hundred fanatics, all three members of his fire team disabled, he alone held off the force for two days by guile, cunning and skill until help could arrive. Because of his exemplary military record, he was brought in by the navy to serve as tactical officer on board the Independence After two years of duty, he worked his way up to chief tactical officer, distinguishing himself in several engagements with privateers. Now he is here to assist in the protection of the Horus, Humanity's last great hope. But when it takes flight and he goes on duty, he will not be thinking of defending the ship, He will be thinking of defending his sister's future and will do anything, pay any price to defend it. Notable Skills: Quick Learner, Resourceful, Perceptive. Other: There is still a great respect between David and the Marines, and this causes some animosity amongst the crew who believe a Navy man. Name: Michael Smith (DreadLord) Age: 21 Gender: Male Rank: Marine Sergeant Major Position: Special Operations Operative (Phantoms) Appearance: Image(Gears of War owns..?) Stands at around six foot five inches, but in his combat armor, he is almost nine feet tall. His hair is cut in a buzzcut like most marines, and he has milky white skin from lack of sunlight (Due to armor). His eyes are a pale purple-green mix, and he weighs around a hundred and seventy pounds of muscle, but weighing almost a ton in his armor (Of course, it doesn't weigh that much to him). His armor is a dull black color with blue trim on. It is seal-proof and is able to go into space without leaking oxygen. His helmet is equiped with a built-in microphone, as well as thermal and night vision, and regular. Two 'dots' are over his eyes, so no one can look in but he can look out. His armor can take a hail of bullets, but if placed in the right spot, or a big enough round, it could tear through him and it. Biography: Born on the thriving Terra, Michael grew up in a decent family who knew how to make a living. At the age of nine, he was awarded the best athlete for the third year in a row, and was selected for a special program the Marines were running; he was one of many. At eighteen, he was the top of his class, and knew how to protect and serve the innocent people. Most of the others that entered this program were either deformed, killed, or not affected, because it involved radioactive wastes from the nuclear explosions that had been happening more and more. Him and his squad were the only to survive, given the new armor that the engineers had rigged, 80% stronger than the normal marine armor, but too expensive to mass produce. They were given the most advanced equipment to train with, mainly to put down riots, rebellions, and renegades. When Terra became desolate, and his parents killed in an atomic blast, he simply stopped caring, becoming more and more ‘crazy’, but not going insane. At twenty, a year before he was assigned to the Horus, Michael was allowed to ‘create’ his own weapons of choice, custom made for him. Most of the weapons he used were custom anyway, him being left handed; his ‘creations’, though not original, was very effective and approved of by his superiors. His new chainsword, one handed, rests on his right hip at all times, ready to cut through flesh in an instant. The common weapon that he would be using a standard light machine gun, but with a steel bayonet on the end, along with a x3 scope, flashlight, and two clips combined to create a hundred and one round clip. At twenty one, he was assigned to the ship Horus to help the Marines keep the peace there. Michael doesn't expect too much action, which will help him get his thoughts together, which would in turn help him become 'unsane'. Notable Skills:[/b] His strength, agility, and prowess with a weapon. Name: Uric Venton (TBU) Age: 25 Gender: Male Rank: Commander Position: Second in command Appearance: Uric is very young, his face would appear almost childish if he smiled, but his permanent grim look makes him look years older. He has a strong voice, but nowhere as gruff as the Captains. Uric keeps his hair very short, the style similar to a buzz cut, except coming to a point at the base of neck rather than a straight edge. It also appears t have ripples, rather than the smooth even surface usually accompanied by this particular hair cut. His position as Second in Command demands respect, but he takes it to a whole other level. His uniform is all way perfectly ironed and is never dirty if he can help it. Biography: His life has been carefully planned out for him even up to this point. His parents paying top dollar to make sure they produce the perfect child, even at the expense of their Childs personality and social skills. He is what would be called the epitome of perfect, if only by actions and not personality. He has gone through all of the needed training to get to his position, and has no doubt in his mind that he is the most qualified for this position. He was born in America, and his foster parents raised him to be a proud member of society. He has taken several classes on flight, propulsion, and defense to prepare him better for his future travels. Notable Skills: Recitation, Organization, and forethought. Other: He has a distrust of A.I even though he prefers their company to humans; who he also distrusts. Last edited by Edon : 07-18-2008 at 07:59 PM. |

Date Deployed: May 1, 2200. In-Depth Look While most of the specifics of Horus will be sent to the bridge officers that require them here is an overall more in-depth look at Horus. Horus Designs Not shown above, but the Horus is painted white with red stripes down the middle and along the belly. There is a large insignia painted on the top of the ship over the front section (above the city portion) that reads "Never Forget Her - Terran Space Craft" around a picture of Terra. The first thing you may notice is the large opening under Horus. This is the docking bay, and can hold anywhere between twenty to thirty fighters, plus large shuttles. There is also extra space for the frigate that often times accompanies Horus and space for extra storage. Above the docking bay there are four elongated spheres along the top of the ship's hull. These are the green house bays which produce the oxygen, water, and food required to keep the huge city and the ship crew alive. Between these four green house bays is the city, taking up the entire front half of the ship; which amounts to a mile and a half long and a half mile wide. The city is made up exclusively of residential housing and a few food outlets which hand out vegetables, meat and other goods from the farm according to a food point system; which ensures everyone is fed. There are also a few pawn shops scattered about and restaurants; with the pawn shops acting like traders (since there is no money) and the restaurants simply charging double the food points for their services. At the rear of the ship we see three long bumps in the structure atop the ship; these are the three bridges; the middle being the primary and the two other back up command stations. These auxiliary bridges are sealed and cannot be unlocked with out the explicit command codes from either the captain or commander. Below the three bridges are the crew quarters; which includes several recreation rooms, a mess hall and hospital ward. There are also several science bays on the lower decks and the engineering section extends out beyond the rest of the structure at the very aft of the ship. The twin FTL engines; which cannot be seen are tucked up inside the structure, to make them harder to assault. Crew quarters come in several styles; 1. Barracks/Bunk Style - A large room with up to four crewmen sharing a single bunk room, with two bunk beds. There are small lockers and two bathrooms for the crew and it is generally cramped; usually assigned to low ranking crewmen. 2. Personal Room - A more spacious room with a miniature kitchen area (with food pad to teleport food from the messhall), private bathroom, and combination bedroom/dining/office area with a small round table in the corner with seats for two and a small computer terminal. Personal rooms are hotel style in that it tries to maximize comfort in the smallest area possible; and are assigned to senior crewmen and junior officers. 3. Capital Suite - The largest room, assigned to senior personnel or visiting dignitaries. It includes a separate living room, side office (with computer), separate kitchen room, bathroom, and bedroom. Mission patches are worn on the right sleeve near the shoulder (which reads "Horus Colonial Mission Crew" and shows a picture of the Horus) while the department patch is worn on the left, indicating the wearer's department. Long sleeved versions are also worn. Ribbons may be worn on the left side above the pocket. Coveralls or Jumpsuits Cover: Black Ship Baseball Cap Top & Bottom: Lighter navy blue jumpsuit/coverall. Bottoms: Black rounded shoes. Coveralls are for work in dirty or laborious environments that crewmen generally would not want to wear a regular uniform in. The jumpsuits are blue, with rank being displayed on the name tag or collar and unit and mission patches on the left and right shoulders respectively. These sort of dirty jobs include; mechanical duties, janitorial shifts, flight crews and engineering posts. Jumpsuits/coveralls are most commonly worn by junior crewmen. Crewmen also often times elect to wear black baseball caps with an outline of the Horus adorned across the front, the ID number bellow and the name of the ship arching over the top of the outline. Formal Dress Uniform (Similar to [x]) The Formal Dress Uniform for Males consists of a dark navy coat over a white collar & tie with matching black belt and dark navy slacks. All medals and ribbons are worn and cover (hats) are to be worn. Rank is displayed atop the shoulders for officers and along the upper portion of the sleeve for more junior crewmen. The Female Dress Uniform consists of the same coat & tie, with the addition of a long navy skirt to replace the slacks for men. Formal dress uniforms can be worn for most office or administrative tasks. (E.g. Bridge Duty, Administrative Duty, Yoemen, ect.) They are also permitted in any other service that does not involve overly hazardous or strenuous tasks. Dress uniform is favored by Junior and Senior Officers while on bridge or administrative duties. Horus Fleet Marine Ranks Command Officers: General (Four Gold Stars) Brigadier (Four Gold Bars + Single Star) Colonel (Four Gold Stripes) Senior Officers: Lt. Colonel (Three Stripes and One Thin Gold Stripe) Major (Three Stripes) Captain (Two Gold Stripes) Junior Officers: Lieutenant (One Gold Stripe) Junior Lieutenant (One Thin Gold Stripe) Warrant Officer (One Silver Stripe) & Chief Warrant Officer (Two Silver Stripes) Senior Enlisted: Master Sergeant (Three Gold Chevrons) Sergeant Major (Three Chevrons) Sergeant (Two Chevrons) Junior Enlisted/Crewmen: Corporal (One Chevron) Private 1st Class (No Sleeve Chevrons or Collar Device) Private (No Sleeve Chevrons Or Collar Device) Horus Fleet Marine Uniforms (Marine Enlisted & Marine Officers) MBDU (Marine Battle Dress Uniform) Cover: 8-Point Cover, Boonie or Helmet Top: Camouflaged jacket over plain brown short sleeved t-shirt. Bottoms: Camouflage trousers Shoes: Yellow-Brown Boots The MBDU is a camouflage pattern outfit which comes in three primary variants. Woodland (green, brown, and black), Desert (Tan, brown and white) and Arctic (White, gray and black). Rank is usually displayed on small collar devices for officers and atop the shoulders (depending on where they are using the BDU; you would not want shinny insignia atop your shoulders while being fired at for instance) while enlisted wear small chevrons along the top portions of their sleeves. The MBDU also doubles as a working uniform for the Fleet marines and is also (as the name suggests) used during combat or other dangerous/dirty operations. Marine Khakis (Service Uniform) Cover: dark brown combination cover or dark olive garrison cap. Top: Short sleeved khaki shirt with optional dark olive green jacket. Belt: Khaki belt. Bottoms: Long brown slacks. Shoes: Round black shoes. The Khaki service uniform favored by the Marines is a short sleeved khaki shirt with brown slacks and black rounded shoes. Rank is displayed atop shoulders (officers) or along the sleeves bellow mission and unit patches which go on the right and left shoulders respectively. Some ribbons can be worn and cover (hats) is usually also worn. Saluting & Attentions Saluting is often done as a sign of respect. This sign of respect is often shown towards superior officers. Enlisted/Crewmen do not salute higher ranking crewmen or enlisted, and Petty Officers/Sergeants are not called sir. Attention is when you stand up from your seat and remain in a straight position. Attentions are only done when an Admiral enters a room or when called. size=4]Security[/size] Most authentication on the ship is done through biometrics scans, so if you wanted to say... Route sensor logs to your personal computer it'd first send the request to Horus (who acts as the administrator for the ships systems and information networks) who would then use the sensors and cameras aboard to authenticate the request. Each crewman also has a PIN number that acts as a universal key to access areas or information. Last edited by Edon : 07-19-2008 at 03:37 PM. |

Section 3.B: Non-Human & Minor Crewmembers
Name: AD-82 ('Argens-Dominus' Model 82 'Dominic') Age: 14 - not including Prototype years. Gender: N/A, However, AI is of the Male variant. Position: Deputy Engineering Chief Appearance/Personality: Tall-ish, with glowing blue 'eyes', this Robotic AI appears like most other AI-infused machines. He has a structure resembling a male in his late twenties. However, unlike most Mechanised AI in the Terran's reach, Dom's plating is rather sleek, in contrast to the usually bulky machines. His wiring is tucked neatly underneath his black plating, illuminating blue at the gaps, hiding the articulation, and adding to the visual aesthetics. Dom's chassis was built to represent a human, and give him personality... However his personality is a complete opposite. Not being programmed to understand basic human concepts, he constantly will point out harsh facts, and true advice. For this, most people avoid this Android's conversations. He has, however adopted some forms of fake human 'emotions'. The AD-82 was programmed to be obedient, and although not understanding the concept of lying, the ability to be programmed with the command to not disclose certain information, is invaluable. However, Dom will only listen to this command from Horus. His Personality Protocol is split into two Partitions, the first being his 'Servitude Application', which disables his ability to assess orders from superior officers, the function to answer back at arguments with superior officers, and many more. It also enables his 'Morality Protocol', which disallows him from using his built in Power-tools as weapons, and also disabling the use of any form of offensive tool. His second partition is known as the 'Emergency Application'. As you'd expect, it disables his Morality Protocol, allows him to assess situations, and act for survival. Biography: The AD-82 was designed to be a revolutionary merging of AI and Mechanic replication. Originally created for the sole purpose of maintenance, a military contractor decided to fund the project, and pressured that an Emergency Application to be implemented. It was, but the designer died of cancer shortly after, before being able to give the 82 a proper Chassis (A synthetic human appearance), or an Emotion Application. The only 82 prototype was sent for trials on the Starship Horus, as a Deputy Engineer Chief. Noteable Skills: - Integrated Power Tools. - The ability to create a short electrical surge, through emitting large currents of electricity out from his chassis. - The skill to piss people off. Name: Marcus Brodan Age: 28 Gender: Male Rank: Chief Petty Officer Position: Mechanical Engineer Appearance: Marcus stands just over six feet tall, with dark grey-brown hair kept at a uniform length of roughly an inch all over his head. While his looks are overall plain and underwhelming, his brown eyes show the spark of a pragmatic, if cynical, intelligence, and his mouth, which is slightly too wide to be attractive is surrounded by a well-groomed goatee. Physically, the man appears quite fit without having the well-tined physique of a military serviceman. Biography: During his teenage years, Marcus had been involved in a lot of the hunger riots that plagued his home continent of Australia, and he had spent 3 years in one of the overpopulated prison camps as a result of this. It is in this camp that Marcus found an aptitude, and a love, for mechanics, everything from the janitor androids' hydrolics to maintaining and repairing vintage vehicles. He took on a full time study course whilst incarcerated, and continued this avenue when he left, and spent a further 6 years studying mechanics and robotics during the construction boom when it became evident that exodus was going to be humanity's only option. Whilst his early days as a hungry dissident still flavor Marcus' outlook on government and those in power, his love of mechanics and a desire for a better life led him to petition for the position of Mechanical Engineer on the Horus. Notable Skills: -comprehensive knowledge of many mechanical systems, and the general mechanics of most vehicles and spacecraft in current use. -understanding of robotics and android engineering. -Street smarts, underground markets, criminal organizations & dissident factions. Section 4.A: Terran Weapon Technology
The Terran space command carries only two weapon types; automatic rifles and pistols. Both use high-velocity caseless rounds. Both of these types also have sub groups depending on the intended use. Rifles Each FM-2 carries 30 rounds, can fire fully automatic, and has several modified versions. The first being the FM-2A, which is a longer version designed to operate as a sniper rifle. The second the FM-2MG, which was modified to carry 200 rounds. The third, the FM-2B was shortened for use in tighter spaces. Pistols The FM-1 is a specialized pistol that uses varying-state rounds. What this mean is that depending on a certain electronic pulse the solidity of a round can be changed from a hard metal slug to the strength of a bean bag. This can be adjusted using a small switch. This allows the FM-1 to put down crewmen or women without killing them or injuring them severely. |
