(IC thread)


Basic map of Maelvor.

If you haven't already then I suggest you read the interest-check thread in order to read up a littel about the background. There will also be explanations for things here.

First of all, the character sheet. Everyone who wants to join should fill out this sheet, I will not allow people who have not filled out a sheet here to join. You can use this template:

Race: Your character's race.
Occupation: Your character's job (if any).

Equipment: The items your character has with him/her. This includes clothes, tools, weapons and trinkets. Generally all items you carry with you.

Appearence: Describe your character's physical appearence.

Personality: Your character's personality.

Background: Your character's background. This is optional to fill out.

Races of Maelvor: It is your generic fantasy-world so most of the more common fantasy-races exist, such as: Humans, dwarves, elves, half-elves, half-orcs, goblins, trolls, minotaurs, undead of various kinds and so on. For playable races I suggest you stick to the more common breeds, that is, no half-dragons, demons, angels or undead.

Magic: Magic works pretty much as it does in the Forgotten Realms. Wizards study magic and learn to cast spells, they can only cast a limited amount of spells per day (per 12 hours). You don't need to think too much about it, as long as you don't throw shower upon shower of meteors I'll likely not complain.

Technology: It's a fantasy-world, that means there aren't yet trains, balloons or other such things. Cannons may exist but that's probably as far as gunpowder-use goes, seeing as gunpowder will never be able to compete with magic anyway.

General background:

King Yargan Wulve II is the current king of Maelvor. However, he has little interest in actually governing the land and has left almost all affairs to the Councillor. His only concerns are collecting taxes from his subjects and using aforementioned funds to either feast, drink or otherwise enjoy himself. He and the rest of the royal family keep themselves locked up in the castle of Grymmesloft, safe and sound from the troubles and plights of the outside kingdom, blissfully ignorant of all that's going on around them. The Councillor has been working day and night in trying to deal with every little tid-bit of the state, but alas, one man can only do so much. And the other ministers and noblemen of the castle are either incompetent or too 'busy' with other matters to lend a hand.

Things look bleak as banditry and marauders plague the countryside, while monsters and beasts who previously only lurked in the shadows have begun to crawl onto the surface and wreck havoc to those unfortunate enough to be in their way.

Rules & Restrictions:

1. No God-moding. I don't wanna see any Knight of Uber-Darkness with a burning Flamesword of Hellforge +5 running amok, killing everything in sight or Sorceror-King of Oblivion who can desimate an entire battlefield with bolts of lightning from his pinky.

2. Keep to the generic races. Yes, I'm sorry, but I really don't want to see any half-dragons, half-trolls, elf-trolls, ord-dwarves, half-demons, half-angels or other such things. If you need to know whetever some race is in the story or not, just ask and I'll tell you.

3. No character-control. And with that I mean of others characters, of course. Let other people respond to your actions, rather then responding for them yourself. You never know how others will act, so just wait and see.

4. Have the ability to understand and make yourself understood. With this I mean basic grasp of the english language. This story will most likely be put in the Advanced Roleplaying board and as such I trust any participant has the basic knowledge needed for that. You don't need to write ridiculously long and detailed posts, but there will be no tolerance for one-liners or filler-posts.

5. From across the sea characters are allowed, however, if that is the case then I expect your character to have absolutely zero knowledge about the Maelvor and what's going on there. This I am allowing to stay open as I guess some people might want to use characters they usually use from other stories or if they are not satisfied with the cultural spectrum of which I have provided on Maelvor.

6. No starting out as a Faction-member. There will be ample opportunity to join not only one, but many of the factions in Maelvor, as such I strongly suggest that you not start out as a member of any group, since you won't have the background and in-depth knowledge of it anyway.

7. Starting location for all the participants would be prefered to be held within Grymmesloft, as it is from there that the group will learn about the on-goings and such in the world. It is also there that they will get the "Main Quest", so to say. *winks*

8. No plot-controlling. I don't mind you cutting up and carving out the hearts of those bandits I just threw in your face, but I will beat the snot out of anyone who tries to pull the plot and story in a direction that is not in accordance with what I have planned. There will be lots of optional, side-tracking stories and little mini-events so there should be no need for you to worry about coming up with stuff on your own. Leave it to me! *grins*

9. Magical equipment such as weapons, armor and tools do exist. Don't worry about, however there are no "Sword of Judgement Day" which can annihilate an entire city or "Horn of Babylon's Return" that can shatter and sunder mountains. Keep magical trinkets within reasonable limits, that's all I ask.

10. If you're going to be away from the story, or you simply tire of it, I only ask that you inform me, preferably by the OOC-thread that will (hopefully) be made later so that I know you're not going to be posting anymore and that I can move along the plot without having to wait.

Occupation: Nothing was an advisor from another land.

Equipment: When he is out of armour he wears a black tunic with a black belt around his waist though he has different coloured ones as well. He also wears brown shoes.
His armour is entirely black and his thick and strong though it slows his movement down. He wears a Teutonic Order style Great Helm helmet in battle.
He carries a large mace in his right hand and a scimitar in his left. The items your character has with him/her.

Appearence: He has long blonde hair going down to his waist. He is 6 foot 3 and has a strong build size build. He has blue eyes and paleish skin.

Personality: Very clever, manipulative and ruthless.

Background:Voron came from a distant land. He was a Dukes advisor until he was persude and cast out by the people their because of the Dark Arts he practised of curses,necromancy and destruction magic. He was the finest Necromancer their and people feared him. Though eventually they joined together and tried to kill him though he quickly escaped in the night and rode out to sea looking for a new land to settle in. He finally landed in Grymmesloft looking for a new start.

Appearance: Xander stands at 5'6''. Her weight falls around 110lbs or so. She has long black hair she keeps up in a ponytail. Her eyes are a bright, crystal blue and stunning. The skin on her body is slightly tanned from all of her traveling.

Personality: She is calm and quiet. Usually she only speaks when spoken to. Due to her job, she tries not to get attached to people.

Background:
Xander is living in Gymmesloft for now...

1 Tsurugi (Jian)
2 Darts holding hair in place (can be used as distraction in the same manner as shuriken)
White linen robe with golden silk woven in it
1 Pair of standard wooden clogs
1 Bag (in the style of robbers in cartoons) containing:
-A few changes of clothes, the same as what she's wearing
-Some small bamboo boxes well-packed with food and all ingredients/equipment (except fish, of course) for making sushi (rice, seaweed, bamboo sushi-maki, a sharp knife, a pair of chopsticks)
(Specific enough? :P)

Appearance: Black hair, brown eyes, light-asian skin, pink scar on left cheek, wearing a robe (described above), Carries the bag over her shoulder and does not sheath her tsurugi (unless she feels safe) and always keeps it within reach.

Personality: A little paranoid, but without reason, as she's had a very sheltered life. She is willing to help anyone, whether they believe she is a friend or foe (she treats everyone like a friend). She is very peaceful, but she, at times, gets extreme mood swings, so ends up using her tsurugi, even if it will make the situation more dangerous.

Background: She booked passage on a ship while she ran from her shelter. She had no idea it would take her to a place so far from being like her homeland. When she arrived at the port, she immediately went to the capitol city and tried desperately to find a new place to live so she could continue her new life. She had never considered the money issue, since her family is a wealthy and powerful one and she's never needed it before. Naturally, not many had heard of her homeland of Sokoku, much less her family. She knew she had to make money somehow in this new land, but could not think of a way to accomplish this.

Summersgod and Absinthe, I've read through your sheets and I can't find any big problems that would prevent you from joining. So welcome aboard.

However, concerning your character, Summoner Rydia, I'm afraid I'll have to decline. Given the theme and atmosphere of the world, your character would be considered by almost everyone on Maelvor as some sort of evil demonic beast, and as such, would be hunted down whenever sighted, not being allowed into cities or towns. You are free to edit or post a new character sheet however, as I don't turn people away from joining, just that this particular character of yours would not be able to get very involved with the story.

Occupation: Traveling Mage, if that counts.

Equipment:
- Deep blue robes, hemmed in silver(worn mostly when traveling)
- Comfortable cloth shoes with sturdy leather soles
- One or two changes of clothes (a simple dress, pants and tunic)
- Her Mage’s Staff from Cyrodiil (A tall, intricate thing, carved with runes and holding an opaque white stone within the curling wood at the top.)
- Elven Dagger
- A pack to hold food
- Water skin
- Pouches for Alchemical Ingredients

Appearance: Pale skin and soft hands, Anora is a peaceful individual, and all around light colored. Her blonde hair falls to mid-back, generally held back in a loose braid or haphazard bun, sheared bangs falling over pale blue eyes, that seem eternally rimmed by faint rings, speaking of long days and little sleep.

She’s average in height, but small in build, made for slinging spells, not wielding a sword. There are bandages wrapped around about four inches of her right wrist, covering the tattoo that shows her former, darker, affiliation. She wears little in the way of jewelry as it only attracts bandits and highway men and she's not exactly wealthy to begin with. She travels with her hood pulled up almost constantly, and moves as if wary of being followed, though she hasn't had a reason to act paranoid for some time.

Personality:
Quiet and composed Anora prefers her own company over that of most other people, though she does not go out of her way to avoid it, she just finds that her social skills, or lack there of, tend to make situations awkward for her. She can identify the properties of all kinds of alchemical concoctions and which spell does what, but can’t tell one blade from the next. If something intrigues her she dedicates all her being to figuring it out, though that sometimes means she forgets to take care of herself. Generally kind and not one to talk excessively she can be surprisingly stubborn for someone who looks so delicate, what she lacks in physical muscle she makes up for in mental strength and iron will.


Background: Anora moved first from the province of High Rock to Cyrodiil, then from Cyrodiil to the lands of Maevlor. She was a active member of the Mages guild in her home land, specializing in Destruction and Illusion magic, and not half so bad at alchemy, though her Mysticism skills leave a lot to be desired. With all the turmoil in Cyrodiil over Necromancy, and Anora’s own dabblings in the past in the…less than savory Arcane arts, she decided to continue traveling, as she had done before, and her travels brought her to Maevlor.

Gender: Female.
Race: Human.
Occupation: Farmhand with druidic potential.

Equipment: Kyrie has on her possession a single steel blue ribbon in her hair, a pocket blade, and carries a foot long sickle tied to her waist.

Appearance: This girl has a humble appearance, being neither overly beautiful or outstanding, nor being atrocious to look at. She has soft, tawny brown shoulder-length brown locks being skirted back by a ribbon. Her large, opulent, forest green eyes are her best feature. She is pale skinned and is cutely spotted with the occasional cheek freckle. Standing at 5'3" she is petite for her age, but she carries herself tall and confidently. Kyrie is a little bulkier than most girls her age due to her work. However, this is barely noticable (unless she were to wear more tight fitting clothing)

Personality: Due to the nature of her background, Kyrie developed a shy persona. She has a strong moral fibre, but is very often reluctant to express anything out of an innate fear of being second guessed and overlooked. She is an incredibly intelligent individual and has a keen sense of perception, but this trait is often never seen. She is very often heavy-hearted, to the disappointment of some people. They assume it to be teenage romanticism, but she has always developed a very thorough process of thought and thinks rigourously since she has time to do so. Her thoughts relay themselves into her mature speech.

Background: When she was five years old, there was an attack on her families farm within the night. There was nothing to alert them to it and as a result, the original farmhouse dwellings and surrounding areas were burnt to the ground. At the time, her mother was pregnant with a second child and was in the process of resting when the house was set alight. Unable to assist her mother from her bed, Kyrie fled the scene and has regretted it ever since. Her mother never surfaced from the house.

Conversely, her father was away at the local town to sell supplies and needless to say he was aghast coming home to see the fruit of his riches, his hearth, home and love destroyed in a single blow.

While he was unaware of Kyrie's inability to save his wife, he took it upon himself to protect his daughter from then on. His overprotectiveness has sheltered his daughter to the point of her developing a reactionary reticence to the pressures of human social interaction.

Her father is not lost on the fact that Kyrie has an amazing ability with animals and tending to crops. Since the fire razed the soil to infertility, for some reason, the crops have been able to grow and produce extraneous yields consistently since Kyrie's work in the fields. He understands that this is not a miracle, but instead a magical talent.

His silence on that matter demonstrates his reluctance to send her away to schools to foster this talent. As far as his concerns go, they appear to be growing on their own. Kyrie, on the other hand is completely oblivious to this 'talent' and instead sees it as just a normal way of life.

Appearance: Alrek is a slender, young human, with fair features. He is about as long as a soldier's longbow. His dark brown hair flows to about shoulder length, two braids go from the front - tied at the back - keeping it out of his eyes. Icy blue eyes show the vigour and apparent naiveté of youth. A rugged full beard frames his chiselled face. Formfitting leather covers his body, framed by grey fur hanging from his shoulders, half the length of the long green cloak that drapes his back, hiding the waterskin hanging over one shoulder.

At the left hip hangs a strange, short, slender curved blade from his belt, the cross guard secured to the silver chaped scabbard with a leather hoop, signifying disuse. Opposite hangs a finely sown leather tube, holding several plumed arrows. Between them hangs a scabbard holding a nondescript dagger, and a leather pouch, seemingly pairing with the quiver - holding the bare necessities of what a woodsman would carry, as well as a handful coins.

Alrek's legs are covered by dark green, loose woollen pants. His feet by soft-soled, shin high leather boots, meticulously dyed black. The young hunter's hands are partially cowered by woollen mitts, his naked, often somewhat dirty fingers, almost always clutching his precious hunting bow.

Personality: Alrek is a resolved, calm, and patient person - traits that all help him being successful in securing the prey he is tracking. Feeling more akin to the simple, yet noble nature of animals, he can sometimes be seen as distrustful towards the so-called sentient beings, however, especially when in new social interactions.

Background: Alrek comes from a long line of hunters, long inhabitants of Nyario. His father having trained him in the ways of the hunt, as his father before him, Alrek's bloodline demands tradition and respect for the hunt. A respect he has always considered due. He is the youngest of three children, always having accompanied the eldest - his brother - in the hunts since he can remember, and likewise his sister and mother in skinning animals and curing their hides. The recent outbreak of monsters has made Alrek, by order of his aging father, travel to Grymmesloft to investigate what measures are being taken, and possibly lend his aid. Reluctantly, he has taken up the sword he was gifted when still a child, and left his home.

Occupation: Waitress/barmaid in a local tavern

Equipment:
-She wears simple peasant garb: worn brown boots, a simple white blouse, long forest green skirt, a cream-colored apron, and a dark green ribbon tying her hair back. She also wears a simple locket that was her mother's.
-She generally carries a coin purse with a few coins from work, a dishcloth, and a small, simple dagger tucked into her boots just in case (though she doesn't know the first thing about actually using it)

Appearance: She's a sweet-looking young lady - wavy, light brown hair that's usually tied back for work, brown eyes, pale skin, 5'5", with a slim build.

Personality: She's generally a quiet, simple girl with a pleasant nature, but she has acquired a strong back-bone and stubborness through years of hard work at the tavern and will stand up for herself if necessary. She normally keeps to herself, still slightly overwhelmed by the size and population of the big city. Working in a tavern and living as an unmarried woman has given her strong common sense and "street smarts."

Background: Her parents and most of her family were killed in a bandit attack on her small hometown when she was thirteen. Afterwards, she and her younger brother moved to Grymmesloft in order to find work. She became a barmaid at a small tavern, putting away most of her earnings toward an apprenticeship at an apothecary for her younger brother.
