Default The Bloodsworn Chrinicles - OOC

Thousands of years ago, mighty beings known as the Bloodsworn were held in the highest respects. The Bloodsworn were, and had always been, magical people. Born under a specific sign, each Bloodsworn had the sign when they were born on their wrist. The symbol of the Bloodsworn looked like that of a serpent, the coiled beast 'tattooed' into their skin. These powerful beings were once held in high respect by all of Aerga. Their power and beliefs made them a force to be reconed with while still maintaining a peacefull existance throughout the lands.

For hundreds of years, the Bloodsworn ruled the lands, their Guard at their side. For a Bloodsworn, their powers varied. Each one could do something different, and when brought together, the powers were exceptional. The Guard were different. Although they were limited to their power, the Guard of the Bloodsworn came in many shapes and sizes. Some were animalistic; wolves, tigers, foxes.. Dragons. Others could take the shape of humans and fight along side their Bloodsworn in combat. It was what made the Bloodsworn who they were, for without the Guard, they would simply be Magicians.

Yet with all times of peace, it could not last. A powerful sorcerer named Mordak wanted the lands of Aerga for himself. Raising an army of orcs and goblins, her wooed several Bloodsworn onto his side with the promises of glory and power. Power. It can be a seductive thing. Unable to resist the offer, those who followed Mordak became known as the Corrupted. The evil magic Mordak worked with twisted and turned them from their former selves until they became nothing more than slaves to his work.

War ensued. With Mordak leading armies against the free people of Aerga, the Bloodsworn and Corrupted met head on. The war was devistating. Lives were lost; whole villages and towns were destroyed. Populations were annihillated. What became known as the Bane of Aerga devistated the land. For years, the two sides fought. People chose their allegiances, going to either side. Yet in the destruction, something happened.

The Bloodsworn banded together. Combining their powers, they created the Crysalys. The crystal held with it the power to lock evil in a barrier, preventing it from letting its power loose. They turned it against Mordak. A final battle was waged. Thousands fought within the dark recesses of the Black Marsh. Many died. In a last effort to defeat Mordak, who had lead his armies personally against the Bloodsworn the entire time, they used the power of the Crysalys.

Mordak was sealed within a tower in the Black Marsh.

Yet all was not won. The Bloodsworn had become weakened. Many had died in the battle against Mordak and his Corrupted. The Crysalys drained the energy of many of the Bloodsworn in order to lock Mordak away. With their powers depleted and their kin dwindled, the Bloodsworn decided it was time for them to fade. They left Aerga, hiding somewhere only they, and a few spare others, knew the location of.

A thousand years have passed since the Parting of the Bloodsworn. The lands have once again flourished, though war between kingdoms is inevitable. The tale of the Bloodsworn has become just that; a myth that storytellers like to share wherever they go. There are; however, a few believers of the stories. Those who were there, perhaps, in that long-ago time. Or simply those who feel that something more than what they are calls to them.
Rumors have spread. Dark tales of travelers who have made it out of the Black Marsh have reported strange things going on near the Tower of Mordak. Orcs and other denizens of the dark have gathered. Some think they are trying to release him from his prison. Those stories have become more and more frequent, to the point to where travelers tell of a dark figure looming over the Marsh. A figure who is gathering an army.

Yet another rumor has sprung in recent years. It is rumored that a young woman, born with the symbol of the Bloodsworn, has appeared. It is said that the young woman travels with a small group of dark elves, though she is not one of them herself. Finding them; however, is hard. The young woman keeps her men hidden when she goes into a town or village. When they are not, they do not travel the roads. Now is the time to chose. Will you leave the land to its own fate? Or will you seek out the rumored Bloodsworn woman; and aide in preventing the destruction of the land before Mordak regains his power?

DOS AND DONTS

DO be active. Flash posting isn't needed, but try to post several times a week. We all have lives, including me, so not posting every day is fine. Just post more than once a month.

DO make your character unique. Give your character something that sets them apart; Weather it's a scar on the cheek or a mark on their shoulder, or even something odd about their past. Make them something original.

DON'T kill off other people without their permission. This is a story roleplay, not a battle roleplay. Therefore, unless you have the other person's permission, don't kill anyone.

DON'T be indescriptive. Make your posts as long as possible. Add your character's thoughts, feelings, what they see, what they're thinking. Just add small little tid bits to make your posts more interesting.

DO make sure you read the posts. Plot twists and valuable information are in the posts. You'll need to know these.

DON'T just skim the posts. The scene could skip a month ahead and because you didn't read everything thoroughly, your character is a month behind.

DO check the OOC regularly. Make sure you keep up with the OOC as well as the IC. Needed information about time, place, setting, plot twists, ect. will be posted in the OOC, so make sure you read the posts there so you can keep up.

DO be creative. Add stuff to the story if you want to. If you want to add an idea or side-plot to the story, feel free to. Just make sure you check with me in detail about it before you impliment the idea, otherwise I'll have to ask you to change your post. We don't want anything messing up the story-line, now do we?

Races of Aerga

The races of Aerga are as wide spread and diverse as any land. Though many perished in the Bane of Aerga, many more still remain.

You ARE allowed to have half-races if you want.

Demons Demons tend to be mischievious. Although most are evil, a spare few are good in nature. Demons are a feared race. One should always be cautious when dealing with demons. They have a tendancy to say one thing and mean another entirely.

Elves: Elves are, and have always been, a secretive race. Though friendly to many travelers who cross their lands, the elves keep themselves fairly hidden. Very few areas of Aerga are clearly marked elvin territory. One can only tell they have entered elvish lands when the season around them is different in other areas. Most elvin lands are blanketed by a protective magic, thus holding only one season all year. Many choose summer or spring, though a few well-known lands, such as Everwinter and White Marsh, are blanketed all year by snow. Elves have powers themselves naturally. All elves are able to walk without sound and travel long distances or fight for days without tiring.

The Dark Elves: Commonly known as Drow, Dark Elves are easily recognized from their more peaceful cousins. All Dark Elves are dark skinned, their hair varrying in color from black to green. After the Bane of Aerga; however, the Dark Elves split into two. Feared for their abilities to walk silently and cast globes of impenetrable darkness around their enemies, some still chose a different path. Thus, the Dark Elves have been split into two sub-groups of their race. And each one is vastly different in culture and magic.

Void Elves: The Dark Elves of the Void became known as Void Elves after the Bane of Aerga. Their magic lies in dark forces, often causing sickness and using poisonous spells and gasses to kill their enemies. Their love of pain and suffering of those who are their enemies makes them feared beyond all others.

Sun Elves: Sun Elves, like their Void Elf cousins, are dark skinned. It is not easy to tell a Sun elf from a Void elf. Most do not dare get close enough to tell the difference. Unlike their Void elf cousins; however, Sun Elves do not enjoy pain and suffering. Largely, they stay to themselves. When one does stumble upon them, they would rather let them pass without even so much as saying a word, let alone hurting them. Living on the surface of Aerga has changed them. The men and women of their society are equal. Neither gender is held in higher reguard than the other. The only way to tell a Sun Elf from a Void Elf is by a sacred mark. Rarely even seen, not even the Void Elves known how to copy the mark. On the shoulder of a Sun Elf, rests a tattooed mark of a single, solitary flame that represents the sun, and often glows.

Humans: Humans are perhaps the most versitile of all the races. Wide spread and most often populating villages, towns, and cities, they vary from person to person. Because of this, humans often take up different sects depending on their personality. Just as they are varied in their homelands and personalities, they are also varied in culture and traditions.

Centaurs: Centaurs are a nomadic people. Much of the Centaur population stay constantly on the move, though there are a few tribes here and there which ally themselves with one nation or another. Warriors by heart and blood, most Centaurs are good at what they do. Fiercely protective of their people, their ways, and their friends, angering a Centaur is never a good idea. Like most non-human races, they live long lives if not killed in battle. Yet Centaurs have a unique ability. While they largely stay in their half-human, half-horse form, they are able to change into either. A centaur can either turn into a human form, or an equine form. This has often allowed them to go unnoticed when traveling through unfriendly lands.

Barbarians: Barbarians are tribesmen. Though their population is mostly located within the mountains and snowy plains, they occasionally come out into the wider world. Tall and broad, Barbarians believe in two things. War, and Spirits.

Dwarves: Dwarves have always been stout opponents. Tough and not easily taken down, a single dwarf often takes on multiple enemies for sheer pleasure though some are traders and often travel most of the year with goods from their homelands to further deepen their pockets.

Powers and Spells

Powers and spells are just that. However, there are some rules to reguard these powers. In order to use a power, something must be given. Generally this is energy. For example: You could NOT read an entire village's minds without going insane. Nor could you kill a thousand men without being drained to near death. Keep that in mind.

Power limit: Each person is allowed a total of 3 spells or powers and 2 elements. No more. This is to keep people from being overly powerful. Because of this, I am also listing available powers. You can only have a power on the list. Nothing else.

As a note; if you want a different power, you must first run it in detail by me and have it approved. Otherwise you can't use it at all.

List of Available Powers

Telepathy: Otherwise known as "mind reading". You can only read a person's mind if they put their thoughts in their post. You cannot, under any circumstances, put a person's thoughts in their head.

Example: Blargh: Katie sat by the fire, staring into it lost in her thoughts. As the others made camp around her, she realized her life was about to change. She looked to Mandy, watching her for a moment before looking back to the fire.

Oops57: George looked to Katie and frowned as she watched Mandy. He knew she was thinking about killing her off and would not let it happen.

See what I mean? Katie didn't think anything like that. The post Oops57 made would have to be redone.

Fire: Having the ability to control fire is not that hard. However, there are rules to using it. You could light a camp fire or roast a rabbit without any problem at all. Setting an entire forest on fire; however, will leave you weak. This goes for any element.

Earth: see "Fire"

Wind: see "Fire"

Water: see "Fire"

Lightening: see "Fire"

Healing: Healing abilities are fine. Just remember. The worse the wound is you heal, the more energy it takes away from you.

Shielding: Shielding is a unique power. With it, you can protect friends and allies from harm. Sheilding only works against weapons. Magic attacks will go through the shield.

Cloaking: With cloaking, you can hide the appearance of a person or group of people. In order for a person to remained cloaked, they have to stay by the person doing the cloaking. If you are out of sight of the person you're trying to hide, it won't work.

Levitation: Levitation is the ability to move objects without touching them. The larger the object, the more energy it takes. Moving a 2 ton boulder will put you into a coma for a week.

Charming: The ability to charm is another unique ability. Those who use the power can charm an animal or person to do their will for a short time. Animals are easy to control. Humans require more energy.

Invisibility: One turns invisible. However, dirt, water, and mud can cause people to see you.

Whispering: By whispering, a person sinks into the shadows. The downside is that you have to stay in the shadows. This is useful for gathering information, but if you step into the light, your whisper fades instantly. You can only whisper when shadows are on the ground. Whispering is most powerful at night.

Open to suggestions on different powers.

Characters Needed

The Guard: TAKEN BY UNHALLOW The Guard is a key player in the story. As his name suggests, he is loyal to one person only. The Bloodsworn. He is able to take human form, and stays in this form most of the time. Closer to the Bloodsworn than any one else, he is her confidante, general, advisor, and best friend. Like the Bloodsworn he follows, he is a just, good man and would never do anything to risk the Bloodsworn's safety. The Guard has Telepathy.

NOTE: I *can't* start the roleplay without this character. To keep from totally taking over the character, I'm going to allow whoever plays the Guard to have 4 spells/powers and 2 elements. (You have 3 more to choose from. Telepathy is already one of them.) Again, I can't start the roleplay without this character as he comes into play during the intro post.

Description/Appearance

Background

NOTE: I put "background" instead of "History" for a specific reason. I don't want to know everything that happened in your past. Let those secrets come out during the roleplay. However; I do want to know what made you decide to join the Bloodsworn's quest.

My Character Sheet

Name: Morina Larkwing

http://i654.photobucket.com/albums/u...irl/hinako.jpg

Background: Raised a human, Morina was born a Bloodsworn. Unaware of it until only a year before it began, she had already been pre-chosen to fight the on-coming darkness of the Corrupted. With her Guard at her side, she finds herself in an awkward place.... The leader of a small band of Sun Elves. With their help, she has made her way across a small portion of Aerga. There is still a long way to go; however, and she is desperate for some answers.

Told that the only way she would be able to defeat Mordak and the Corrupted, she would need an army and the assistance of other Bloodsworn in order to do so. Now, she searches for others who want to help in her cause. Or rather... they search for her.

-----

As a side note, I feel it fair to warn you. I will be opening the roleplay with one of Morina's "journal" posts before the actual setting. If you've ever read any of Drizzt Do'Urden books, you'll know what I'm talking about. These will be implimented every now and then throughout the roleplay. Feel free to do the same with your own posts if you want. Or simply come into the story in your own way. Also, under Description/Appearance, feel free to put up a picture. If there's anything you want to add that's not in the picture, just put it under it.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise, I hope you have fun.

Please re-post your character sheets for those who've already joined. There's still plenty of room if anyone else is interested. I'll post the IC when I get it up.

Please tell me you have a human-like form to go with that...Otherwise I'm afraid you'd be far too... noticable. Not to mention everyone would want to attack you on sight.

I was originally thinking that he just stayed invisible most of the time, but now that you mention it...
