Terra has exhausted her resources; the air is polluted and acidic, the soil is rotten from pesticides, and ozone is crumbling. Nuclear wars have also destroyed parts of the planet and rendered most continents useless and infertile. It was decided by the remaining governments of the world to start construction on a new hope for humanity. This massive construction project was the Colony Ship Horus. This ship is the first of it's kind and a breakthrough in science with faster-than-light engines, self sustaining food, water and oxygen systems and a powerful magnetic shield network. All of these combine to give humanity a fighting chance at surviving the cold reaches of space. With a daunting task ahead of them the Horus' crew prepares to leave the once-warm planet of Terra and try to find it's place among the stars. At the start of our story the Horus is orbiting Terra inside a space cradle. This space cradle has all the characteristics of a rib cage; with long metal strands laying over the structure of the ship. These strands transport goods and supplies onto Horus that she will need for her journey and will detach during the final moments of her departure. For now though they are firmly in place and act as a gateway onto the ship. A huge crowd of smaller ships have gathered around the skeleton, waiting with a mixture of hope and envy for the departure of the Horus. Other ships still such as the Terran Frigates Defiant and Independence wait to embark on the journey with the brave souls aboard the Horus. A steady stream of shuttles cuts back and forth between Terra and the cradle; ferrying crews and supplies as the hours crawl by. Our journey begins here; do not let Terra down. The Command will often times replace the Captain so that he may rest or represent the Captain if he is unable or unwilling. S/He also heads up the engineering department which is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the ship. The Security Chief is of the same department, subordinate to the Tac Officer and is responsible more-so with the internal security of the ship. Whereas the Tactical officer is focused on the exterior. Helm Officer - The Helm officer is responsible for directing and piloting the Horus; also operating the external sensor arrays and navigation. The navigation department is the smallest on board and is made up of primarily engineers and pilots for the smaller shuttle craft aboard. Science Officer - The Science officer is responsible for the science department onboard the Horus; which handles all unexplained or strange circumstances in or around the ship. This includes; studying new planets, studying spacial events such as worm holes, nebulas and so forth. Horus at A Glance While most of the specifics of Horus will be sent to the bridge officers that require them here is an overall more in-depth look at Horus. Horus Designs Not shown above, but the Horus is painted white with red stripes down the middle and along the belly. There is a large insignia painted on the top of the ship over the front section (above the city portion) that reads "Never Forget Her - Terran Space Craft" around a picture of Terra. The first thing you may notice is the large opening under Horus. This is the docking bay, and can hold anywhere between twenty to thirty fighters, plus large shuttles. There is also extra space for the frigate that often times accompanies Horus and space for extra storage. Above the docking bay there are four elongated spheres along the top of the ship's hull. These are the green house bays which produce the oxygen, water, and food required to keep the huge city and the ship crew alive. Between these four green house bays is the city, taking up the entire front half of the ship; which amounts to a mile and a half long and a half mile wide. The city is made up exclusively of residential housing and a few food outlets which hand out vegetables, meat and other goods from the farm according to a food point system; which ensures everyone is fed. There are also a few pawn shops scattered about and restaurants; with the pawn shops acting like traders (since there is no money) and the restaurants simply charging double the food points for their services. At the rear of the ship we see three long bumps in the structure atop the ship; these are the three bridges; the middle being the primary and the two other back up command stations. These auxiliary bridges are sealed and cannot be unlocked with out the explicit command codes from either the captain or commander. Below the three bridges are the crew quarters; which includes several recreation rooms, a mess hall and hospital ward. There are also several science bays on the lower decks and the engineering section extends out beyond the rest of the structure at the very aft of the ship. The twin FTL engines; which cannot be seen are tucked up inside the structure, to make them harder to assault. Other Ships The Horus is also accompanied by the Terran Frigate Independence and the Terran Frigate Defiance. They are twin ships designed for the sole purpose of protecting the Horus against enemy attack and assault. Keep in mind that these frigates are so small that they can fit inside of the Horus' docking bay. Terran Frigates Last edited by Edon : 07-22-2008 at 11:33 PM. |

Sorry about such a long bio...once I started, I just couldn't stop. Let me know if there is anything you want changed.
And random, but is Jaden male or female? And Dread, you better be on your best behavior. I am a Trekkie fan...don't decimate the ship with your nukes. Or I might have my plant woman come after you. She may not have lightening, but she has chemicals! EDIT: Dread, it is inevitable that we meet. Wherever I go, you are like bubblegum under my shoe, stick stick sticking your way along lol

*chuckles as she sees Dready-pie's arm trip the "self destruct" trigger on one nuke; runs to her personal bunker*
Sorry Edon for my bit of "spamming"...dread tends to bring that out in me. But I will attempt to restrain myself now while I wait to hear if I have been accepted.
