Nope, not exactly.

I'll make my character sheet and show you what I mean. If I can illustrate it right with my words.

Name: Vincent Law (Had to! I just had to!)
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Nationality: Americ
Grade: 11th
Appearence: Short black hair, stringy and hangs over his eyes most of the time.(Though it is more often than not, greasy and disgusting. Medium build. 5'6. Angular jaw and a rough fuz growing around the edge of his chin. Usually found wearing darker, more grey or black clothes than that of the brighter catagory. Though it is not entirely out of character to see him waltzing around in a pair of flip-flops and black shorts.(no shirt)
Personality:(bipolar?) Most of the time he's calm and controlled. But this is just a ruse to hide his inner child that can be found bursting out, rejoicing and frolicking like a short-bus attendee.
God(dess): Death incarnate.
Mythology: From the fears that have been instilled in humanity since they came to understand that death was inevitable.
Power(s): Has the power to manipulate the flow of life. Can instil or drain the life from any object, person, or animal. Though the constant flow of memories of the millions of lives that his presence is constantly consuming keeps his moderation of this power above that of a child.
Background: As a human he has had a completely normal life. He has never doubted that he was the god of death, though he never could recall how he came to that conclusion. He's lived with his father and mother since he can remember in a small town just on the edge of the border between L.A. and M.S. He was sent off to Marin. Aca. for his last years of Highschool and plans on returning to his hometown to follow college while living with his folks.
Trivia: Death is absolute. Nothing can explain it and nothing can prevent it. You will die. And you will not come back. This law has been around since before humanity could ever hope to have understood it. And even though Death has been incarnated, Death himself cannot tell you why he does his job. He just knows that he's the only being in existence that can take life away, and constantly does it.
Vincent's mortal mind is constantly being plagued by millions of visions of deaths. Constantly. Though his physical body is anchored, his spiritual self is present everywhere, all the time. Taking lives and carrying them across the border to the afterlife. Much like the ferry does the students at Martin. Back and forth and back and forth and....

I know this character sheet doesn't make a whole-lot of sense. But I'm just not the brightest player. So proudly voice any disagreements.

My character would stand mostly as a neutrality. His power being a very strong one. Though I see one or two problems as I'm looking back at the concept of his character.

One, he is incarnated without any particular reason or plause. He is death. No one can deny their faith in death. Therefore, why would he need to be incarnated to save himself...from himself?...

Two, his power wouldn't ever have any sort of weakness. He's a god-moded(he-he-he) character no matter how you slice it. I simply do not know how I'd limit him if the need arose.

Because I'd honestly think it'd be awkward, once all the character's have met and are discussing each-other's past and powers, and Vincent just goes 'Well, I could just kill you all without so much as a hint of effort.' So I guess this is the biggest problem. Limiting death.

(Meet Joe Black. Starring Brad Pitt)

The problem being is that Death has had many incarnations. The Grim Reaper figure, itself, could be called a god in the sense that we mean it. So Anubis and Hel and everyone else who claims 'god of death' has the same ammount of power more or less; they're just one of the many 'faces' of Death. Nobody worshiped death as the concept; it always had a figurehead, aka a god.

And no matter how neutral you claim the character will be, natural human bias will creep in, so all that god-moded power comes right back into play.

So I'd say maybe pick the grim reaper? the pale horseman? he's european mythology, so you could play him. But 'I am death I pwn all' just doesnt seem to fit.

Hell, theoreticaly then, Hyena could kill and eat you, since in the African mythos the gods died all the time only to come back later.

'I am death I pwn all'

Just pointing out that I wasn't going for the above. I just like having a neutral character that way I can skip out on the debates that always arise between the differentiating character types.

By the way, I could just play a normal human who becomes tangled in this story.

Death could work as a god as I'm fairly sure that Death has been personified as a being and just simply called Death. Don't play Death the concept, play Death the mythological personification. That way it is perfectly reasonable for people to lose faith in such a god over time. I believe in death, of course, but I don't believe in some sentient being that comes to drain the life force of the living when it is their "time". The thing here is that people used to believe that death was actually caused by an entity, which is what your character is.

You could put some kind of limitation on this power, like, I don't know, maybe your char doesn't actually control it, maybe it only happens if it's the person's "time" to die. In European mythology, Death only comes when fate dictates that someone must die. Here's the wiki page that talks about Death as a mythological figure, which also talks about how Death is portrayed in various parts of the world:

Death (personification) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As far as god-moding goes, my character Gabriel's power is almost the opposite of yours, (although I don't think it goes as far as resurrecting people from the dead) and has the potential to be nearly limitless, however he's fairly confused about what's happening to him at the moment.

Um... I'm sorry, but that wasn't what I meant. I meant historical mythology. Sorry.

Would you mind if I just played a normal human then?

I'm not the most informed person when it comes to mythology....*headdesk*

I'll just alter my bio from above to fit a normal human if it's alright with you.

Edit: Or maybe a shaman or some kind?

Is it too late to join?????

Name: Max (Short for Maximus) Alabaster

Age:19

Gender: Male

Nationality: He is Greek

Grade: 12

Appearence:
Max stands 6'4" and weighs 180 pounds. He's built, but not overly. He has a tattoo down the right side of his stomach/shoulder/arm like this.

Personality: He is different in the fact he's not stuck on himself like a lot of people similar to himself are. He is a very nice and kind guy, always at least attempting to find a way to make someone feel better if they're down in the dumps. He's quite the competitor, always taking up a physical challenge when possible. He is very smart, including most subjects including business, science, math, stats, etc.

God(dess): Hermes - is the Olympian god of boundaries and of the travelers who cross them, of shepherds and cowherds, of thieves and road travelers, of orators and wit, of literature and poets, of athletics, of weights and measures, of invention, of general commerce, and of the cunning of thieves and liars.

Mythology: Greek.

Power(s): He is a very capable athlete (strong, agile, fast, light footed, high endurance, etc). He can make up just about anything out of nothing, find hidden meanings in things others cannot. He can get around almost any and all security appliances, and can get his way out of just about anything by lying or deceiving others. He has an ability to change the densities of most any object, making it easier to move around if need be.

Background: He was born in Greece, but his parents moved to Russia when he turned 9. He had a little fun in Russia, though the real fun started when he turned 14 and his parents moved to the USA. There, he did some questionable acts, though no one ever knew about it. When he turned 17, he got into some trouble with the police, and to make sure this didn't happen again, he was "forced" to go to this international school.

Trivia: He can be REALLY shy at (most of the time), sitting in the back of the class. Most times people forget he's even in a room with them because of the lack of trouble he causes, along with noise. At some occasions, he can change dramatically and get into trouble within a second.
