Default Trouble at Southryme (Rymeworld) - OOC

Genre: Fantasy.
Categories: Action, Comedy, Drama, Super natural, horror.
Length: Estimated to be short.
Prefered number of players: 3 - 6.
Other related threads: IC thread. Interest check.
Source: Rymeworld.

Backstory:
Welcome to Southryme, or at least a part of it. This small area in the south-eastern reaches of Rymeworld has since many years ago been a peaceful and uninteresting, as well as uneventful, area with very little to offer the outside world. The sleepy human village just north of the map, located on the Evermist plains, is the only real community of living intelligence that inhabit this particular area, if you don't count the old ruined mansion and the abandoned cemetery. However, lately weird happenings have been occuring. For one, many people seem to have gotten lost while venturing into the Wispwalk Woods, as well as reports of strange beings infesting the quarry across the river.

To make things worse, ghastly apparitions have been seen floating about the cemetery and people have said they've seen shadows and dark figures move about around the old mansion. Not to mention, a few days ago, the bridge that spans the river was reported having been overrun with strange, tiny beings that acted most hostile towards anyone trying to cross it. Things only escalate and keep getting more and more out of hand. This especially since the mist from Evermist plains seem to increase in power and become thicker and thicker and spread further and further. The human village is in despair as they no longer can work, walk or do what they want.

In response to this, they've requested the help of the local hero, and peerless drunk, Myrgos Merlin Munroch, who just so happens to conveniantly live in the little cottage at the edge of the Wispwalk Woods. However, the townspeople, who know how Myrgos work, have also sent out messengers, posters and criers to try and find other willing bodies who might come and help solve the increasingly numerous problems that plague the little countryside. Hopefully, some noble, adventurous or greedy souls will hear the call and come to the aid of the poor hamlet, to aid them in their hour of need.

Important OOC information (Read this!):
As Rymeworld is not yet finished and there are still many things that has not been added or described/explained in it, I would suggest you all to play as regular humans for now, without any magical powers. The setting is of course a medieval, fantasy-esque world (think 400-1100) with super natural beings and forces moving about. All information can be found at the Rymeworld website, and as the site continues to update itself, more info will be available over time.

Now, as for your introductions, please do not start in the aforementioned human village. The village will not play any part in the actual story and we will not even visit it once. Instead, start yourself out somewhere near the small cottage, whetever you are there after being sent to it by the villagers or simply by accident it does not matter, as long as your character finds the cottage all will be well. Do not start yourself inside the Wispwalk woods however, doing so may very well lead to your characters' premature death. This of course doesn't stop you from starting there, just think of it as a friendly warning.

Rules:
The common roleplaying rules apply, I shouldn't have to list them, but in case some of you don't know them, here they are:

1. Follow the Advanced Roleplaying Board's ruleset.
2. Do not God-Mode.
3. Do not control others' actions/responses or characters at all.
4. Even though this is not an overly serious story, please try not to be stupidishly silly or pull a bunch of cliché, unfunny jokes.
5. Do not stray away from the map given here. As of now, this is the only official bit of Rymeworld mapping in existence.
6. Have fun and enjoy yourselves, otherwise there's no reason to it all.

Characters:
(You may only play as one character at this time)
Name:
Race: Human. (Sadly, this is mandatory at this point)
Age:
Gender:
Occupation: What your character works with/as.
Date of Birth/Affinity: Please specify which month your character was born in (our real months' names apply). This will be explained later.

Appearance: Pictures are allowed though you'll still need to write a description.

Personality: Describe how your character acts, thinks and is.

Questions:
If you have any questions or otherwise, feel free to ask them and I'll reply in kind as soon as I can. As I can imagine, not many will want to read through all the information at Rymeworld's website (Even if there isn't a whole lot at the moment), so I'll happily respond to anything you ask here as well.

Character-list:
1. Myrgos Merlin Munroch - Xaltwind.
2. Ambrose Palmer - PaxDominion.
3. Mikial - Dudel.
4. Mela Kallia - Flower Girl.
5. Elden - Osteel.
6. Ajax Rosalyn - Thyme.

All slots filled.

Name: Myrgos Merlin Munroch.
Race: Human.
Age:
55(?).
Gender: Male.
Occupation: Woodsman, Town-Hero, Drunkard.
Date of Birth/Affinity: 11th October.

Appearance: Myrgos is dressed in a large, weatherworn and tattered brown robe, complete with hood and long, droopy sleeves. Underneath this he wears a thick, dark grey woolen shirt with matching pants. He has a tattered old leather belt strapped around his rather round belly and sports a pair of comfortable deer-skin shoes. The man also sports a huge, fluffy white beard that covers most of his face and chest. He's also completely and utterly bald. The man has a stocky and short frame, reaching only 5'6" in height. His blurry and unfocused brown eyes are always sleepily half-closed and a set of deep, distinctive wrinkles crown his forehead. He also has a rather large nose, which isn't made less noticeable when drunk, at which point it becomes slightly reddish in colour.

Personality: Myrgos is a sour old fart, with a foul tongue and even fouler temper. Easy to anger, upset, irritate and generally just bitter, he is as unpleasant as soaking your socks in wet mud and then trying to wear them. His breath smells heavily of alcohol and the man doesn't go far, or anywhere at all actually, without at least one bottle of some sort of brandy strapped to his belt. Despite these overwhelming flaws however, he is quite cunning when it comes to woodsmanship, tracking and hunting. He knows the surrounding area well and has been known to help lost travellers find their way, if only to bitterly scold them afterwards, telling them "How much trouble it is" for him to have done so. He originally hails from Evermist village to the north of his current home near the Wispwalk Woods.

Name: Ambrose Palmer
Race: Human
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Occupation: Hired warrior.
Date of Birth/Affinity: 1st of July

Appearance: Ambrose wears a long red coat that is mostly in shreds from his waist down. He wearsblack pants, secured in several places by small leather belts, the same goes for his shirt which is basically a dark brown tunic, also fitted with belts. His hair is normally pure white, but he can change the colour at will.

Personality: Ambrose is a cold person who rarely speaks. He works any job that pays and has, ostensibly, no morals. He has no ego, despite his skills, which are considerable, and this gives him the advantage in any fight. He fights almost entirely by instinct, only giving thought to a battle when the foe is clearly superior. Despite his attitude about chosing jobs, he is hardly greedy, and his true motivations are, well, a mystery, quite possibly even in his own mind.

Dear PaxDominion, thank you for displayed interest.

I regret to inform you that your application has been denied and rejected.
The following reasons may shed light on why this decision was made:

- While the ability to change your own haircolor is hilarious in itself, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense, nor does it sound plausible that this would be manageable through sheer willpower alone.
- The description of the character is, in itself, a prime example of God-moding, as it is stated that not only is he very skilled, but he also gains the advantage in any battle. True that there is also stated that he may retreat when faced with an overly tough opponent, but it's not like you run into Balzzaron the Principal Dark Lord of Hades every now and then.
- If he works any job that pays he is not a Hired Warrior, rather, he would be either a mercenary or a handyman. The definition ofa Hired Warrior is someone hired exclusively for the purpose of fighting. And fighting isn't the only thing we're going to be doing, not that there's anything wrong with being a hired warrior.

I hope you see the logic and reasoning behind this decision. You are most welcome to try again, should you so desire.

Name: Ambrose Palmer
Race: Human
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Occupation: Mercenary.

His hair is normally pure white.

Ok, so he can no longer change his hair colour, and is a Mercenary. Other than that, when I said his skills were considerable I meant that as better than most. Furthermore, it was his lack of ego about his skill that gives him an advantage, and obviously only against opponents with ego's of their own. And by clearly superior, I didn't mean overly tough, I mean clearly superior to him, which is simply above above average. I apologize for my need to clarify. The hair thing was unecessary I'll grant you but would've been a magic thing and not will alone.

Default Character Sheet V1

Name: Mikial (No last name you may give me one if you like)
Race: Human.
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Occupation: Well the nasty term for this would be thief. However Mikial likes to think of himself as a skilled saboteur or handy key master. As the word thief brings out the worst in others.

Date of Birth/Affinity: Spring, Early March.

Appearance: Mikial wears an average no nothing type of leather armor. It isn't special besides being shaded green. The armor fits him rather well leading to him being able to move in it without hindering defense to much. It is a light armor so he can not take a direct assault without at least feeling pain. Mikial wears a pair of leather boots to match his armor however they are brown and have a gold cuff-link to keep them attached to his foot. Mikial has long brown hair reaching his shoulders and dark green/hazel eyes. His eyes seem to change depending on the light in the area. Dark green in bright/sunny areas and hazel in darker ones. Mikial also has a small scar behind his left ear he got as a child which is why he grew his hair out. That and cutting it himself is a hassle. Mikial carries two blades, a short sword at his right side and a dagger in his left sleeve. Mikial also carries the 'tools of his trade' inside a pocket on his leather pants along with a pack on his back which he uses to hold anything that will fit into it. Usually consists of food and a bedroll as well as any loot he may have taken.

Personality: Mikial being a thief, as others would call it, tends to avoid large crowds. If he is noticed too easily then he feels he has failed as a saboteur. Mikial does NOT like the word thief he finds it degrading and when called such, he becomes offend rather quickly. Mikial doesn't care for magic types and finds them untrust worthy, more so then a fellow thief. In fact Mikial would trust a fellow thief before anyone else; To him there is honor among thieves. Mikial enjoys stealing and isn't ashamed of his profession. On occasion he may 'take a job' not quite suited for him but only if the rewards are in the greatest demand, he's easily swayed by treasure and gold.

On the basic side of things Mikial is smart and a bit sarcastic at times but if in a group will help them. He may be a thief but he is noble and does not steal from friends. Mikial knows the law but only so he can bend it.

A little more about him: Mikial was an urchin and thus learned his 'skills' in a very trial and error fashion. He was raised by his own will, after leaving an orphanage at the age of 10. He then quickly learned that the rich get rich and poor get poorer so he decided to take what he deserved be damned the consequences. As a child in the orphanage, and the reason he left, one of the House Fathers sliced him in the ear with a knife for taking a cookie.

Well, given your explanations to the character, I guess there's no further problem, PaxDominion. You'll be added to the list.

As for you, Dude, there's no problem other then that you seem to have a very, very rough grasp on the english language. This is of course not a problem, as I believe people improve their english best by trying and learning by practice. Also, I'll be more than likely to give you several lectures on the 'proper' use of english, even though I'm not extremely good at it myself either. xD

So, you're more than welcome aboard as well, Dude.

Name: Mela Kallia
Race: Human.
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Occupation: Wandering Bard
Date of Birth/Affinity: 15th May

Appearance: Mela always wears a loose, faded, and much-repaired green linen dress. Three inches of the hem, near her mid-shins, are torn away by traveling through rough terrain, leaving a raggedy, poorly-repaired edge. Other portions of the dress show evidence of patching with different shades and textures of cloth juxtaposed against the green. Her boots are of brown leather, and utterly unremarkable in every other way, with the exception of the small knife hidden inside the left one. She carries a lute, usually in her hands, preferring not to deal with the carrying strap.

She's not exceptionally beautiful. At the most she might be described as pretty. None of her features, from her pale, round hazel eyes to her mid-back length, slightly unkempt brown hair are ugly, but the combination is not anything more than pretty. She's very thin, from a protein deficient diet, although after Mela discovered that braining small animals with her lute stunned them long enough to move in with the knife, she's started to flesh out a little.

Personality: Mela, a performance artist by trade, has no problems with and indeed is rather fond of crowds. They are, after all, the source of her livelihood. She does, however, like a smidgen of space between herself and the crowd while she performs. The crowd usually gives more than a smidgen anyway, so things usually work out.

Mela possesses an unusual sense of detachment. Years of explaining the stories of others give her a preference for staying on the edges of things, listening, watching, and composing while somewhat removed from the action, and have made it hard for her to make friends. It's not that she's cold or unfriendly. It's just that she likes to let stories play out on their own. She is not above interfering if the story she is following appears threatened. She can always edit her intrusion out of the story later. It wouldn't do to leave it in. Who ever heard a story about a bard?

Name: Elden
Race: Human
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Occupation: Traveler
Date of Birth/Affinity: 7th August

Appearance: One wouldn't look at Elden as someone with money. In fact, he doesn't even have a job, or a home for that matter. Being a traveler, he's someone who wants to see the world, for as little cost as possible. Of course, he'll work when he has to.

Tall and not that built, Elden can still carry his weight around. He was also taught to use an bow when he was a kid, which sums up most of his talents. Although, if it counts, he does have the ability to bargain.

His clothes reflect his wealth as well. Beige, tattered pants that have been ripped many times at the bottom from all the walking. His shoes are worn, but still in good condition. He wears a white t-shirt under his blue vest that is missing a button or two.

Personality: Elden enjoys his freedom, and as long as he has it, he is a very likable type of person. Many would call him homeless or just plain poor, to which Elden will protest. Money to him is useless other then to feed and travel. Although, when he can, he would rather work instead of paying. Money is too heavy, and it jingles too loudly.

Not much else could be said. He's talkative and outgoing. Not easily angered, nor quick to use violence. He enjoys life.
