MIDWORLD CASTLE
Midworld Castle, as the name suggests, stands between worlds; a halfway point between the lands of the living and the lands of the dead.
The realm of the living encompasses many universes, and souls of the recently deceased come to Midworld Castle. Here they may choose to continue on to whatever fate may await them, or they can elect to try reincarnation.
Those who would choose the latter face no easy task. Souls who would attempt reincarnation must make a request of the Lord of Midworld, who sends single travelers or groups on soul-quests to fulfill certain goals. It is said that the Lord of Midworld is a servant of Time who uses these souls to rectify chronological anomalies in the time lines of the multiverse.
Three soul-quests must be completed in order for the Lord of Midworld to open up the door into the realms of the living.
If a single quest is failed, the souls involved are immediately expelled to the realm of the dead from whence there is no return.
__________
Your Character:
Our characters will begin in Midworld Castle. As a soul, you may take any form your desire. It will have a personality and memories of its last life. It will have no powers (these are not yet necessary).
A soul embarking on a soul-quest is placed in a random body which has random powers and skills (these are up to you). While the body has no conscious recollection of the soul’s past lives and memories, they can still affect the body subliminally. For example, a character who was an engineer in a past life might have a natural talent with machinery. Or, a character whose soul last existed in a scientifically advanced world might feel ill at ease in an ancient setting.
During soul-quests the bodies will not remember the soul-quests that were assigned to them; they will have to achieve their goal following hints and symbols and be driven by a subconscious need.
Soul-Quests
Each quest will take place thousands of years apart in the same world. Throughout this time there will be developments or regressions in technology, magic, civilizations, and lifeforms.
Any skills/knowledge that you gain in a soul-quest will be retained by the soul, and during the next soul-quest can be expressed subconsciously.
Rules:
1. High casual standards. You must use
at least one full paragraph, but using at least two would be preferable.
2. When creating a ‘random’ character for each soul-quest, you must still create one appropriate to the setting (I will provide details on the settings).
Character sheets:
At the moment, you do not require a character sheet. You may describe your soul’s name, appearance etc in the opening part of the roleplay. Character sheets will be needed when the soul-quests begin.
