Saw somethign similar to this on another rpg site, liked the idea so I'm changing it around a bit.

Its the year 2050, and scientists have tracked the path of the earth to veer exceptionally close to the sun during a season of unusually explosive and large sun flares. Predictions call for a high chance of sunshine with an almost 90% chance of total annihilation.

People gather in large masses to pray to their Gods, hold their family, and just close their eyes and wait for the world to end on that predicted day.

But it doesn't.

Almost exactly one year later, mysterious cases begin to pop up all around the world: young children and teenagers being effected with mysterious, varying, and sometimes deadly new powers no one can explain or control.

Colonel Richard Black has noticed the danger in these new and unexplained powers, but also seen their potential. In an experiment classified above top secret, a series of military bases have been established with the sole purpose of carrying out Operation ABYSS : Abnormal Biomutational Youth Seizure and Separation

Almost hundreds of young people form across the nation dissappear without warning, for the sole purpose of harnassing and controlling their weak and fledgling powers, with or without their consent. However, an underground movement has started, to protect the ones with powers, who call themselves Solaris, directed by their mysterious leader with the intention of freeing and protecting these youths.

Background: Clifford joined the military at the age of 18 and has been earning his right to be in operation ABYSS all his life within the military. He is currently part of the security force for operation ABYSS tasked on keeping watch of the youths and protecting operation ABYSS' personnel.

Background: Ashley used to be one of the popular girls at school, outgoing enough to get along with a large portion of the other students. Her power developed when she was at school, one of her arms disappeared and it shocked everyone in the classroom. The teacher called the police, thinking that her arm spontaneously fell off and she needed to go to the hospital. However, her arm reappeared and the people that picked her up never took her to the hospital, instead they kidnapped her, taking to the ABYSS Base.
