IC Thread Now Open!
--------------------------------------- >> As you're passing through a darkened alleyway you come across an old telephone pole and on this pole there is what appears to be a wanted poster. It's letters are crude but still somewhat legible. You try to make out what you can: CALLING ALL SWASHBUCKLERS! Have you been oppressed by the current situations at hand? Are you ready for a change of pace? Do you use the words 'aye' and 'matey'? Then this is what you've been waiting for! Tomorrow, September 5 3015, at 10p.m at the old tavern over on Jacobs St. I will be recruiting a few of the privileged to join my crew. This is not a job for the feint of heart -- so come prepared to set sail! Intrigued, you suddenly rip the ad down from the dirty pole and decide to take a trip on over to the tavern -- considering it's the fifth and nearly 10p.m. --------------------------------------- >> Plot: The year is 3015. Global warming hit and when it did -- it hit hard. It has been nearly five hundred years since the earths ice caps began melting at rapid rates and water flooded down over the lands. There were only three small continents which survived the flooding. Two were owned and operated by the government, TrelaCair and BisslePeek, the third is a small island called Greflam. Greflam is a free port where thieves and beggars are most common. It has taverns and inns all throughout it along with little shops and what not. Underground there is a huge technological movement in Greflam where engineers and computer technicans are coming up with new ideas for ships, water mounts, bombs, and many other things. Not many people are permitted to the Underground. There is a small housing district on the left side of the island where the more "upper" class [or basically those who've robbed one another blind until they got somwhere] live. The rest live in the brothels, inns, and streets of Greflam. The Underground is a technological movement of sorts. Considering that the world has been washed back to more primitive times -- they're searching for a way to bring at least the technology back up to par. There are a few people who have access to the ones underground -- so you have to do your begging and bartering with them. Usually you can find a few of them in the Old World Tavern or any of the other taverns in Greflam. Through these people you can buy, sell and trade your old world treasures for money [marks] or other things to help advance your boat [such as: motors, better weapons, steal enforcement, nautical devices, etc]. The Underground is looking for almost all old world items and will offer you their best offers -- if you're smart, you'll take the deal. They don't take kindly to people undermining their offers. The treasure that gets paid the most is old dollar bills -- for one reason or another -- pirates just figure that it's because it's a relic. Second highest paid is metals and wires. TrelaCair is known for its government operated farmlands and cattle ranches. On the northern and western sides there are plantations with slaves recruited from Greflam and the seas. The slaves are almost tortured until death. Their blood is more than likely fertilizer for the crops no less. All around the continent is a vast brick wall to keep intruders out. The government says that this is for everyone's protection -- but no one really knows what happens inside the gates besides the government and the slaves that have been recruited there against their will. There is only one port on the southern side of the continent and it is used solely for shipping to BisslePeek -- and is heavily guarded. BisslePeek is a communist country which oversees TrelaCair and basically whatever is left of the world. They have knowledge of pirating going on and know all that happens in Greflam [besides, the Underground]. They have power and wealth and anyone who lives on the continent has had a "V-Chip" put in them as a tracking device. There are only two class of people on BisslePeek -- those who have money and power and those who don't. The beggars on that continent trade and barder with the pirates from Greflam in secrecy for if the government were to find out they were associating with the rebels they would be executed. Those who can not make it on BisslePeek -- are sent to TrelaCair to spend their days as a slave because going to Greflam to try and become a pirate would bring certain doom to themselves and all who followed them. There is two ports which are moderately guarded on BisslePeek -- the north port and the east port. The north is only for shipping of goods to and from TrelaCair and the eastern port is for recruit ships. There are no walls around the continent only sturdy fencing with guard posts -- it is not impossible to break into or get into BisslePeek. There is a rumor on the seas about the Reef of Darkness. It is an area in the waters where there is a reef barrier where ships go to die. No one knows how the deep dark waters pull ships under and make them meet their watery deaths -- but many good captains and ships have been lost there leaving only bits and pieces of the crew for the seagulls. There have been few ships to return to the lands with tales from escaping the reef. A local lore on Greflam speaks of a hidden port, Kamanja, in the middle of the Reef of Darkness. There have been few ships to travel the storm torn seas that make up the Reef of Darkness -- and come out of the dank mist to tell about it. If your ship ever makes it to the port -- be careful of those who are there. They aren't like regular people there. They practice the dark magics and sorcery -- and make their homes out of the reef from the very bottom of the raging seas! These "people", if that's even what you'd call them, are half human and half sea creature. Very few of their kind are known in the rest of the parts of the sea covered world. Whilst traveling the sea... be careful not to get swept up by the typhoons that lead to the port -- because you may never make it back out to tell your story! There have been notes from the Underground, in Greflam, that "evolution" has occurred with a few people. They are beginning to have webbed toes and fingers along with premature gills. Most of these evolved people die by the time they reach their teens -- few have been known to survive. Knowing all that the Underground does -- it is the thieves, beggars, and pirates that have to save the world from the governments dictatorship and bring it back to normalcy. If we stand in numbers we will conquer all there is and be able to make a true life for ourselves -- but if we stand alone we shall fall. **The government has ships sailing around the world in search of pirates and new slaves. If you have a pirate ship or are on one you can NPC a government ship and take it down to try and be part of the cause. I am hoping that somewhere after we get the hang of it all we will be able to form an allegiance and have the Underground create new weapons so that we can tare the current government down and form our own democracy. --------------------------------------- >> Rules: Please follow the Roleplayer Guild rules, as always. - Try not to make your ship and crew overpowered... stay fair to other characters. - No character can live on TrelaCair or be part of the government. Those things are basically NPC type deals. - You can live on BisslePeek just remember there are only two types of people. Those with money and those without. You're more than welcome to play a rich snob but please remember to keep to the role. So if you see a beggar on the street you're probably going to spit on them. - Also, I don't care if everyone is a pirate or whatever... just remember every ship has to port down sometime [this will also help you interact with people in the actual game more and not be so lonely]. *Personal note: I would like it if people joined one another ships. But you all can have your own if you'd like. If you want to join someone's ship ask them in the OOC before it happens etc. - Also, you can be part of the Underground if you want but you have to be an engineer or a computer technician. - No one line posts or anything like that. Try and make them at least a decent paragraph to two paragraphs -- with descriptions and what not. - Try to use proper spelling and no chat speak. - Need a spell checker? Check this. --------------------------------------- >> Character Sheet: Name: Age: Gender: Race: [Human // Evolved Human ~ if you're an evolved human you have to be between the ages of 15 - 20 because they usually don't live past like 12 or 13] Profession: [pirate, crew member, tavern owner, beggar, thief, rich and powerful, etc.] Weapons: [Everyone has one of some sorts. If you don't want your character to that's fine -- just put n/a] Appearance: [Description and/or picture of your character] Bio: Personality: --------------------------------------- >> Here is a map of the world. Everyone remember that even though this is a futuristic setting -- water has flooded over and man kind has basically had to restart itself. It seems as though the years number has increased -- but the mind set of the land has gone back ages. --------------------------------------- >> Alright, if there are any questions about the forum I will gladly answer them. Just so everyone knows, you have the option of PMing me as well as posting in here. Once we get a few accepted character sheets then I will open up an IC thread. Thanks!

Sounds fun. I'll post my character sheet as soon as I get the time. Should be as soon as I finish my homework. 200+ Calculus problems. -__-
Name: Captain Edward Raven Age: 22 Gender: Male Race: Human Profession: Pirate Weapons: Two of these. and This Appearance: Click Bio: Since he could remember Edward has been in love with the sea. He enjoys sailing more the anything. Anything except pirating. He spent years of his life looking around for the best crew he could find. He's the captain of his boat, The Oceans Plague and sails across the seas in search of any treasure he can find. Personality: Captain Raven is an adventure hungry pirate. He cares more about finding the treasure than the treasure itself. He still does care about the treasure, but is very generous with it with his crew. Most of what he gets goes towards bettering the ship. Constant maintenance of the ship, more ammunition, other supplies. What doesn't go towards The Oceans Plague is split with his crew. Edward's always searching for a new challenge. Once he finds one he won't rest until he satisfies his hunger for adventure.

Name: Sergeant Tom Sumner
Age: 35 Gender: Male Race: Human Profession: Pirate Weapons: (3) Flintlock pistols. (1) Cutlass. (2) Daggers Appearance: Sumner is a hulk of a man, standing at 6'2" and weighing just over 200 lbs. of muscle, no one would confuse the strong sergeant with a small person. His dark hair is cropped short, and he has a small golden ring in his ear. He often wears a red bandana tied around his left upper arm. Bio: Winters joined a Pirate Crew, The Wandering Rogues, when he was only 14, as time went on he developed more and more skill with ship-borne weaponary, being promoted through the ranks. Alright, Deja you're accepted!
And Gungho you're accepted as well -- only problem with your character sheet is that the names don't match. You go from Tom Sumner to Winters. Maybe it's a nickname he acquired? If so please but that in bio -- otherwise, choose one name please ![]() I will be opening up the IC thread soon so look here for the link. Also, my character sheet is going up now Thanks everyone!

Name: Captain Ryan Black [Better known as Captain Black]
Age: 21 Gender: Female Race: Human Profession: Pirate Weapons: Carries with her a "cane" that she doesn't need for walking but rather uses as a staff or means of discipline. Also has two flintlock pistols hoisted around her back side. And one long cutlass. Appearance: Here's your captain. Bio: Ryan was a tomboy growing up in an age were gender didn't matter. After the warming happened so long ago her ancestors took up residence on the Sea Witch. Years have passed and the original ship sunk -- now Ryan is in charge of her own ship which in memory of all those past has the same name. Her whole family was seized from Greflam and sent to TrelaCair as slaves -- she was the only one to escape. For this, she hates the government and is bound and determined to do whatever it takes to free her family from their slavery. That is her main goal -- but other than that it is to steal from the rich and give to the poor. She may look like a hard ass but secretly she hates seeing any innocent being suffer. So, she does what she can to provide the beggars and thieves of Greflam with fish, fresh water, and other things of the sort. A modern day Robin Hood if you will. Boat: The Sea Witch is a decent sized vessel that can carry a twenty man crew with no problem. It is completely black -- including the large sails. On the front side of the ship is a large sea serpent that looks much like a woman and yet -- something else. This ship is Captain Black's pride and joy -- and as any captain would she would gladly see the bottom of the deeps with her. Personality: Captain Black is loyal to her crew, ship, and the few friends in which she's acquired. If anyone has a problem with either they have to take it up with her. Though she may have a small frame and be a woman -- never under estimate her for if you're of enemy status you may find your guts pierced with her cutlass. She's usually a very friendly person with a weird sense about her -- until you mess up.
