Default The Lost City (2nd Attempt)





Palms is a powerful nation, similar to our Britain, but with a slightly warmer climate, think more like southern Virginia's temperature. Their government is an elected Parliament, but is corrupt and self-centered at best.

Gaile is like our Ireland, and though they speak the language of Palms, they have a pronounced accent. They are governed by what could be considered a monarchy, as the line of a great Gailish folk hero rules, but they are fair and just in their ways.

Londus is another nation similar to Palms, but is run by a monarchy instead of solely by an elected Parliament. Palms has a very close alliance with Londus.

Meier is a more technological nation, but shuns most contact with foreigners, and as such, has developed a quite different language than the Common Tongue of Palms and the surrounding nations. They have an extremely hot climate, and have different physical traits to show for it, namely dark olive skin and light blonde hair.

Dashin is a land densely populated by forests and ancient ruins. There are few major cities, and the majority of the people living there shun modern advances. They speak an assortment of archaic tribal languages.

Thainland is by far one of the coldest areas in Terra, due to the amount of high, rocky mountains. The altitudes and temperature show in the clothing and war tactics of the Thainfolk. Their language is a slow, clumsy one, similar to a combination of Russian and German. They are governed by fuedal lords, but are still unified under the rule of the Mountain King, who is chosen each decade in a great battle.

Teru is a nation filled with rivers and lakes, most of which run off of the high Thainland mountains. They are experts in the arts of navigation and watercraft, as well as known for their magical abilities. They speak a language somewhere between Common Tongue and Thainspeak.

Ren is the most desolate of the nations of Terra. For ages, an unknown blight has existed on the lands of Ren, making it literally impossible to live on. Prolonged exposure of more than two or three months almost nearly always results in a terminal disease with no known cure.

Meskus is known for its architecture and art. It is a culturally rich country, with a rather formidable Aeronautics Academy, and the most powerful Royal Armada in all of Terra, and a close ally of both Palms and Londus, and is similar to our France.

Shai is the smallest of the nations of Terra, but also the most underestimated. Their prowess at building airships is world-renowned, and they are often contracted to build new prototypes for nearly all the other nations in the land. They speak a quick, chattering language, somewhat like Chinese, but also similar to more Romance languages like Italian and Spanish.



IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT TERRA
  • The battery was never invented
  • Many cities have a Solar Station, where energy is harnessed by a metal called "Aetherium"
  • Much technology is scrapped and reverse engineered "Ancient" artefacts
  • The single most sought-after quest in all of Terra is to uncover an Ancient City. This has been done several times, but the majority of cities remain hidden.
  • The current year is 326 Post-Merge.
  • There are no months, rather, the year is divided into four seasons. The year starts with Spring (91 days), then Summer (92 days), then Autumn (91 Days), and finally Winter (91 days)
There are ELEVEN CLASSES to choose from. Later on, I will be enstating "Cross Classing" which will allow for a large number of combinations and customizations.

The classes are Soldier, Medic, Rifleman, Smith, Acrobat, Scientist, Brawler, Clown, Techneer, Ranger and Burglar.

Soldiers are the basic class, with an average set of characteristics. They are capable of using a wide range of weapons, but have no real specialty.
Level 1 Skills: Heavy Strike, Tackle Roll, Staredown

Medics are essentially what they sound like, healers. They can only use lighter weapons, and are understandably weaker than some other classes.
Level 1 Skills: First Aid, Immunity Booster, Shoddy Operation

Riflemen are more adept with the use of gunpowder and weapons of a more modern style. They are luckier than other classes, and have more intelligence, but are slowed by their heavy guns.
Level 1 Skills: Adrenaline, Incendiary Rounds, Focus

Smiths are strong, powerful fighters, who can aid in the repair of many things. They are best with heavier weapons, such as hammers and axes.
Level 1 Skills: Forge Armour, Bolster, Sharpen

Acrobats are light, quick players who can reach places most other characters could not. They use whatever weapon is the lightest, quickest, and easiest to conceal.
Level 1 Skills: Spiral Assault, Contort, Divebomb

Scientists most commonly use their intelligence to create strategies and hit weaknesses. They are often weaker than other players, but are still a formidable class.
Level 1 Skills: Electrify, View Parameters, Repair

Brawlers are rough-and-tumble fighters who prefer hand-to-hand combat and the like to any form of major weapon. They are exceptionally strong, but lack intelligence and luck.
Level 1 Skills: Enrage, Hard Fists, Crushing Blow

Clowns are quick, cunning, and in shape from a life of being only slightly less-than honest workers. They use a variety of unexpectedly useful weapons, from lead-filled balls to flaming torches.
Level 1 Skills: Trickery, Distraction, Comedy

Techneers are the most spectacularily unique class, using a merge of magicks and technologies. They are smart and lucky, as the two forces of the world do not often mix well. They invoke ancient spells and apply them to things ray-guns, robots, people and more.
Level 1 Skills: Invokation, Belching Smoke, Flarebomb

Rangers are men who familiarize themselves with the earth, often being considered the opposite of civilized. They can disappear and move with ease in dense jungles, and know of herbs and poisons.
Level 1 Skills: Herbal Remedy, Poison Strike, Thought Break

Burglars are considered the least lawful of the classes for good reason, but are quick and lucky after avoiding the law for so long. They can prove to be a valuable asset, assuming they will get paid.
Level 1 Skills: Pickpocket, Nightfall, Body Break

Bio: Victor was raised near the capital city of Gaile, Canon, by a single mother, until she passed during the Ruteria outbreak of 317. His father was a fire-stopper who died saving people at a nearby Aerodrome, after an oil tanker crashed into it. He spent most of his life on the streets, where he was found by Professor Thelonius Whytechild, who educated him and nurtured his love for invention.

Alignment: Arayl has no regard for the law what so ever. She is not a serial killer or someone who is trying to murder thoughs in power. No, she just does what she wants, when she wants. She believes the only law a man (or woman) should follow is the one he/she makes for him/herself.

Appearence:

Nationality: Arayl was born in Dashin.

Personality: Arayl is sarcastic and blunt. She never gets tired of attempting the impossible and is always up for an adventure. She doesn't let anybody stand in her way and has no quarms about breaking the law. Arayl is sly, devious and cunning - traits that have gotten her out of trouble many times.

Bio: Arayl was born in Dashin, though both her parents were of Gailish origin and brought her up to behave in a more sivilised manner than the people of Dashin. Her father, Terni Dubois was a great explorer, forever trying to find the ancient cities. Wherever he traveled, his wife, Nataya and daughter Arayl would follow. On one particular expedition in the depths of Dashin. when Arayl was at the tender age of seven, her mother, Nataya, wondered off alone. Her body was found at the bottom of a cliff. It was presumed that she fell to her death. After the accident, Arayl's father distanced himself from all that he had left; his work and his daughter. He never really got over the death of his beautiful wife, for he blamed himself for it. Terni Dubois died a few years later; a broken man. If he gave one thing to the daughter he left behind, it was his love of searching for the ancient cities. Arayl continued her father's work - though she did it for the sense of adventure, the thrill of discovery and, oh, of course.... the money. Arayl learnt fast that she wouldn't get anywhere in life without money. She is not what you would call a miser, but she does have a love of money and sees no problem what so ever with it. She has an (almost) honest carer discovering ancient cities, so why shouldn't she benefit from it?

Class: Clown

Equipment: Several daggers (Arayl poison's one of the blades) and a spear.

Skills: Trickery, distraction and comedy

Judgement: Creeper's Shade: Draws the shadows cast by objects and living creatures and can encircle them around an enemy, plunging them into complete darkness.

Personality: Alex is very talkative and friendly person. He doesn't like to fight at all, but he likes to point out other people's mistakes. He is very law respectful and loves to "fight for what's right". Alex is hopeless romantic in his soul, and he loves to pick a verbal fight, by stating his oppinion to people of opposite opinnions. Alex's intelligence is out of question, as he likes to say he is one of the smartest people in Shai. Although Alex despites fighting, when he comes into position where avoiding is no option, Alex loves to out think his opponents and put them in check-mate position, which usually ends in Alex leaving them and giving them second chance.

Bio: Alex was born in peaceful family of two scientist (both his mother and father), and he was the only child. He lived normal kid's life, until he turned 18. Few months after he turned 18, Alex's father, who was conducting experiments on s-r form* weapons, finished his research by 90%, when some people form government decided immediate execution of Alex's father and his whole family, and too take all of research data on the way. When the attack started, Alex's father snook Alex out through secret passage leading to the woods not far away from their house. Before telling Alex to leave, his father gave him his first and only fully finished s-r form* weapon. After that events occured, Alex started living on his parents steps, starting to conduct his own research on s-r form* weapons. Few weeks ago, Alex finished 90% of his own s-r form* weapon...

Class: Scientist

Skills: Electrify, View Parameters, Repair

Judgement: Tempo Merging - Alex can extract power from nearby power source and merge it with his weapon (Rose Blade or Necklace Blade), giving the weapon intense power (depends on ammount of power extracted), durability and lightness. However this can easily backfire in three ways: 1. If source of power is very unstable, 2. If power merged with weapon, gets unexpectedly disconnected from weapon, or 3. If artifact** brakes. Result of backfire is high radius explosion, hurting eveything organic (trees, people, animals etc. everything non-human made, meaning the weapon stays untouched, as so are buildings and everything human made...).

*s-r form weapon = sealed-released form weapon, represents weapon firstly made by Alex's father, but passed on to him. They are top of some branch of technology, as they cannot be detected as weapons when in sealed form, but when activated (there is a button) they turn into released form showing their's true form. Only known weapons like this are wield by Alex, and possibly people from government who stole Alex's father research data when they killed him and Alex's mother.
**In usual situation, Alex wouldn't be able to pull this kind of thing of, but due to his research Alex made an artifact that allows him to do that (refference: [http://fav.me/d18gk69] - Tempo Artifact). Alex always carries it on his left hand under his glove and sleeve, but it's slighty peeking out of the sleeve.

Personality: Coming off out spoken, optimistic, and playful, Noemi is a loving sole that would much rather hug a person then fight them any day; but, if upset she is not afraid to speak her mind. To her dismay, she has a tendency to be clumsy with her words; at the worst of times her choice of words is not always the best and says things she does not mean. In these cases, her generally composed and bubbly behavior becomes terribly flustered and embarrassed. Yet for the most part, her words tend to be loving, companionate, and helpful. To her, language is her strength and her downfall.
Bio: Noemi was the daughter of a renowned architect, Gregor Lafayet, and Eleanor Lafayet in Meskus. Being a highly held family in Meskus, image was everything! Going from opening to opening of her fathers’ structures, she felt as though she was always putting on a face to impress. Even outside of the high-class events, her parents put her through class after class of various arts; Dance, painting, sculpting, musical studies, and the worst of them for her, architecture. No doubt, she enjoyed the arts, the expression, and the beauty of it, but she did not feel as if she was expressing herself in it all and doing it more for her parents. When she was 19 though, at the opening of her fathers newest building for the Royal Armada, her father introduced her to a lieutenant; incidentally, her fathers purpose was simply another attempt to get her married to “a well known face” in the Meskus circle of “important people”. To her father though, she has to thank him for such a fateful introduction. During their conversing, the pompous man boasted of the various cities he had been to and the one he planned to find: the lost city. Story after story of this lost city; dream after dream popping into her head; and a promising sight in store to find her self, she would not marry this man, but she would plot. Weeks later, after much planning, she slipped from her tightly secured home in a box of drafts that were to be sent to a client on the edge of Meskus; the last words left to her parents was a small note wishing them well. From then on, she has migrated from region to region, searching for herself in her own new life; searching for others to join; and searching for the lost city.

Equipment: a set of knives
Skills: Spiral Assault, Contort, Dive-bomb
Judgment:
Invisible Knives: A set of special knives that work best in closed spaces, are attached to a reals of sharp, metallic, twine that appear almost invisible. When thrown, the knives are not only the objects swinging wildly to keep an eye on, but tracking and finding the lines of twine is even more important since they can cut through the flesh. Swinging wildly about in every which way, it is as if an opponent is in a field of almost invisible blades.

I hope I haven't gone to much overboard with my own uniques family weapons, and by giving Alex 2 weapons? He won't be using the rose sword until big fights later in RP (if there will be any) anyways. Oh and btw: Am I accepted? thanks, lol

Personality: Bruno is soft spoken, if crunching gravel for a voice can be soft, he angers easily and never turns from a fight. Bruno can be gentle and caring to those that show him kindness but he gets confused easily and takes rudeness as a serious offense.
Bio: Bruno comes from a long line of big Thainland fighters, at the age of 18 he decided to do some walking and hasn't stopped. Bruno is a sigh in many cities for he is heavily scared and many have called him ugly, not many have looked very good after. Bruno is 6'8, 312 lbs, he's slow but has been seen punching through a brick wall, Bruno is starting on his way homeish if he could remeber which direction that is.
Class: Brawler

Equipment: A pair of blade knuckles, and a large caliber pistol (terrible shot but working on it)

Skills:Enrage, Hard Fists, Crushing Blow


Judgement:
Meteor slam, Builds up a tremendous amount of kinetic energy and slams into target causing sever trauma or a very big hole.

OKAY, let me explain a few things that seem to be not-understood...

This is a STEAMPUNK rpg, meaning technology is mostly low-level and clunky. Victor's HPC has to be within 4 meters of a power source in order to fire it. Most things do not run on electricity.

Beam weapons (i.e. lightsabers, beam whips, etc) are off-limits. Ray guns are allowed in the sense of 1950's nostalgia style. Anything close to modern technology has to come out of Meier, which shuns contact with the outside world. Gunpowder is okay, but things like machine guns will be heavy and complex.

Skills can be found under your class's description in the first post.

If you didn't read the first post, you might as well leave now, I can't stand ignorance.

Judgement is a single powerful attack that only you can use. Traditionally, it revolves around your weapon and personality. If you have ever played final fantasy, it can be related to Limit Break.

The first person to be accepted is Ice Grimm, for Exeptional Detail in the Creation of Characters. One small detail- the technology you are fiddling with is more like Meier. Your character can be allowed to be Shai, in the event that somehow the character has a link to Meier in the IC.*

*VERY FEW PEOPLE WILL BE ALLOWED TO BE MEIER-RELATED. THIS IS A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE BASIS.

The next person I would like to accept is Fenrisulfr, for Exceptional Understanding of the Rules and Classification. Perfect character, ideal class and nationality for someone who looks like that.

Now, Honorable Mentions.

znk99fg7, I'm sorry, but I can't accept your character as it is right now. It has several problems.
  • Bio is not detailed enough.
  • Your nationality makes no sense- Dashinfolk are tribal, unsophisticated, and somewhat barbaric. They can be veiwed like Amazonian tribes. Your character seems to have understanding of the Ancient Race, which are considered gods to most Dashinfolk, and greed for money, which is of no use in Dashin (they trade like Indians would)
  • You have too many weapons, and the explosive arrows is out of the grasp of a Dashin tribesman.
  • You have no judgement.

Noemi, I also can't accept you at this time.
  • Your bio is iffy at best.
  • Your skills are incorrect. Please re-read the first post.
  • You have no judgement.

I also put forth the offer to anyone who I have rejected to modify their post so that it fits the standards that I am expecting from players, and I will re-evaluate them for approval.

I have one small question about Meskus. Can I re-edit my CS and write in nationality that both of his parents nationalities are Meskus and that due to going off to find more peaceful life they went to Shai, where little Alex was born? And I don't want Alex to be Meskus only for one reason: "is similar to our France." yeah....I have some big problems with French people atm (not all, not hating on anyone, but there are some individuals in my life..), and I would have tougher time if Alex is directly "French" than just having ancestors there. I hope I wrote good explanation, and I hope that's ok with you?
