The Mist II

There have been many Resident Evils and horror story remakes; this one is no different. I’m basing this original copyright-infringing (there’s an oxymoron) roleplay off of Steven King’s The Mist.

The copyright-infringing background: The story is simple….a big spooky mist comes and terrorizes people. However, I will add my own little touch to it to spice things up a bit.

The original background: When the mist comes, time itself seems to be frozen. However, all organic objects (including humans and animals) remain constant, but do not, nor cannot, decay. Food may still be digested, though. The group of people we will be focusing on are the ones stranded in a Wal-Mart Supercenter in the middle of Roanoke, Texas (yes, that is a real town). There is only a small bunch of people however since the time-rift happened at exactly 12:00pm, when shopping activity is at a minimum.

The area was engulfed by a supernatural mist with strange, and frankly “unseen”, spirits loping about and abducted their victims. Those stranded inside of the Wal-Mart have barricaded the doors and few windows, including locking the doors to the car-maintenance garages and truck docks. They now must wait out the time-rift and protect each other occasional infiltrations by spirits.

There are a variety of useful resources:

r All of the obvious (clothing, food, etc)
r Weapons and ammo from the Sports/Hunting Dept.
r Medical supplies from the doctor’s office and hospitality room
r Go-Karts for quick maneuvering and transport across the supercenter
r Kitchens behind the Deli, Subway, and McDonald’s
r Communication tools by using cell phones, radios, etc.
r And of course, all the game consuls a typical teen could dream of (not as useful as the others, however)

Each roleplayer can control up to two (2) characters and, of course, any NPC. The character profile sheets are below. They must be sent to me via PM before you can roleplay. I will post the approved profiles here in the OOC.

Please make separate character sheets for each character if you are playing more than two. No character sheets are required for NPCs as they can be controlled by any person. Note that the Turn Ons and Turn Offs pertain to what turns on and off your character, not what other characters are turned on and off by. For instance, if your character is attracted to red-heads then put Red-Head in your Turn Ons category. If your character is hates Vertigos (astrological sign) then put Vertigos in your Turn Offs category.

Personality: Mostly serious, but knows when to relax and have a good laugh. Extremely witty and will often act intelligent just to show off. Kind, courteous, and gentle.
Bio/Brief History: Zach has lived in the surrounding area most of his life, but lived in Missouri before he turned two. So, he pretty grew up as a Texan, but does not take on a Texan accent not does he even act like one. His family history is very rich with European culture and Celtic nobility. Zach has the potential of making straight A’s, but for some reason he tends to stick in the average A-B range.
Turn Ons: Blonde, intellectual, devoted, open-mindedness
Turn Offs: Materialism, loveless lust, air-headedness, carelessness

Physical Attributes/Appearance: Brown hair, blue eyes, average build, weighs in at 120, stands at 5’10”, white-Caucasian. Takes on the young, cute-boy look that girls tend to go head-over-heels for.
Personality: Laid-back, but can be stressed-out during troublesome times. Extremely considerate of others. Gentle. Open-minded, but uncertain and a little skeptical with religious topics, although he is a devout Christian.
Bio/Brief History: Adam’s history is that of typical freshman teenager. He’s about to enter high school and so far doesn’t know what lies ahead for him during the year. Most of the girls lust after him because of his cute attributes, although he has no idea why every girl says that about him. Adam claims that he has been mostly insecure most of his life and is just now awakening to the real world of high school drama and adolescent soap operas.
Turn Ons: Attracted to those who don’t love him for how he looks, smart and intelligent, open-mindedness, not afraid of being honest
Turn Offs: those who lust after him for his appearance, dumb-foundedness, materialism, gauntness and pomp

Physical Attributes/Appearance: Stands 5'11, has an athletic build, surfer's tan, short brown hair, and green eyes. Likes to wear sports jackets (as in blazers) and kakis, despite his athletic figure.
Personality: Love to play football and swim. Kind and gentle aside from his harsh seriousness whenever things get rough. He also tends to be a charmer to the ladies.
Bio/Brief History: Vincent recently moved in from California. His parents decided that morgage and gas prices (and everything else) was cheaper in Texas. His father was also offered a position as a lead-engineer for a major building project in Fort Worth. Vincent is ready to start in a new high school and begin his Senior year with a bang. Although, he wasn't quite expecting a mist to come up and ruin the whole shindig.
Turn Ons: Any chick that likes him back
Turn Offs: Any babe that touches another guy (that's his warrent to give 'em a black eye!)
