The Cross thing could be more of a psychological thing, the Vamps may have natural phobia of them (Like people have a natural phobia of being stabbed to death) causing them to go into severe shock when they come into contact with one.

Silver could be toxic to them - It's not unheard of, like how birds can eat chilli seeds unaffected but they burn most mammals. This could also be used to explain an aversion to Garlic.

As for an explanation as to why destruction of the brain or heart will kill them, if they're permanently junked up on adrenaline, then they'll be near impervious to pain - People have been shot and barely felt it while being hit with an adrenaline boost. To explain why they don't actually die of bloodloss though, it's been proven that certain labrats and amphibious lizards can grow back limbs, cut off the flow of blood in major injuries and generally prove very hard to kill.

Destroying the brain would obviously work, as it would no longer be able to function, and the brain subconsciously controls all your vitals. Get shot in the head, all your Organs stop working. Oh yeah, and you'd lose all ability to think, move or do anything in the split second before you died. I'm pretty sure this applies to Vamps aswell.

Getting them through the heart would work because Vampires need blood - It could be explained through the Vampirism virus killing off red blood cells, resulting in the need for a supply of blood from elsewhere, AKA Poor generic human victims. If the heart was destroyed then the blood wouldn't be able to get round their system at all, and it'd be much like the exact opposite of a shot of adrenaline. They'd bleed out in seconds.

Weaknesses of vampires, explained logically. I feel like i've achieved something.

Also, can i put forward my own ideas about vampries weaknesses? I have some interesting theories .
Crosses: The mythological idea was that because they had no souls and instead bound demons, the cross would burn their inner demon, and thus destroy the host as well. The practical idea for this, was there was one priest who defended himself with a crucifix when once attacked by a vampire, and it burned the vampires skin. This was a silver crucifix, and through out the years, it has been thought that a normal crucifix will burn a vampire.
Silver and garlic: The silver and garlic (i believe) reacts with the vampiric virus in the human cells (eg, the virus in the blood cells) and destroys it, as certain key elements pass from the virus to the silver, or starts a chemical reaction which creates a poisonous substance for the vampire, and this damage the cells, which in turn damages the host.
Decapitation: Losing your head... umm... I'm ot going to bother explaining this one :P
Loss of the heart (ie, staking): If you were staked, shoc would increase your blood flow, and you would bleed to death in a matter of seconds. Another idea, is if you stake a vampire through the heart with silver, then a fresh supply of vampiric cells constantly arrives at the heart, ie the blood. The continued damage of the cells, would cripple the host, and kill it quickly.

I would go into explaining my ideas about how vampires actually exist (in my mind at least), but it would take a while :P

Also, what do you guys think of the sunlight thing? I think its a bit stupid to think an organism can explode instantly on contact with UV light. I personally think that they have no pigment in their skins (like an Albino) and just sunburn extremely quickly.

I suppsoe, but thats more of a rash style thing, i just dont see how that could be mistaken as burning... At least not to the extent of exploding people. I suppose its just story telling, but it got more imaginative. First off it was:

Aye, but i was saying that in some vampire sotires (eg, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) the vampires explode. It is an odd idea, and i was sharing my views of where the idea might have come from.

well, al did say they'd burn but not really crumble into ashes (a thing I consider silly because how the hell can vamps live so long and be so weak in sunlight ).

al, since ri is the target. I made the beginnings of the vamp plot for her now. XD

jaques and raven are just subordinates, damian is the bad guy where ri is concerned.

raze, have you decided on your vamps yet? do my vamps know your vamps?

oh and I won't be posting as ri for a while.

someone want to kill jaques? or raven? just one of the two. or neither? O_o

@al: sorry for the time jump. I just did it to make the fact that ri made the stuff (which does take a while to make) and the second jump was done so that the events in between may be filled up with everyone else's thoughts...or they can skip it...
