Default And He Is Me

[This is the product of my dad twisted psyche, he gave me notes and told me to write a story, use alot of symbolism.... Anyway, the reason I posted this so quickly is because its on my desktop. If you don't believe me it's on urbis too. Look me up: fwriter or fwriter218 I think one was banned.]

And He Is Me

I have watched him climb the steep mountain trail. My worse fear confirmed, he is no fool. The care he commits on the rising path and the shadows cast from above and beside remind me of a viper moving through a cane patch. His progress is a study in stealth, an advance cautious and measured. His pace bearing no rhythm of which I can gain an advantage. No chance to close on him safely. He is no fool.

He pauses for an hour at the last rise of the trail. Patiently waiting for the sun to cast his shadow behind him before proceeding. By now I am sure that he can see his path is nearing an end and that I await his arrival. I hold the advantage of higher ground, what little advantage there is to be claimed.

I truly hoped when he realized to advance any further meant certain confrontation he would lose his resolve. He did not. Truthfully,
were he to lose resolve and recede to whence he’d come, I would have welcomed the respite and not pressed my advantage. He did not
waver. He does not fear me.

The last of the path is shouldered on both sides by rising stone outcroppings. He does not commit himself, but lingers there now. He knows I am here, and so it would appear that I have painted myself into a corner. It is no longer an option for me to flee. Safe passage will not be allowed. He is no fool.

He hunkers down, his nostrils slowly flaring, sampling the air about him. His ears already attuned to his surroundings, listening for something more. I can feel my own resolve slipping.

He knows I am here. Nothing stands between us now but our fate. I rise, I am no coward.

I've never really been one for symbolism, and so I cannot interperate some of your quick drabble, but the parts which I can understand, are moving, and successfully strike a profound resonance in me.

Hmm.

This one reminds me a lot of my own relationship with my dad.

:/ I can't understand a lot of it, my sense is a bit obscured. Have time to explain to me?

Sorry I didn't see this reply earlier.

It's about my dad growing up. He's always hated himself for getting married and having kids... Anyway, the story is about an everlasting conflict with himself. How he's been fighting all of his life and sees his end coming soon. There's a little bit more but that's pretty much it in a nutshell. The combination of his self hate and the 40 something years of alcoholism probably sparked this.
