Default Another Story: Chapter One - Heart Beats

"Tabbo" Project I spoke about on another thread. Decided to post it. Everything beyond this post is exactly how I wrote the story. discuss and Review as you wish. I'll post other chapters within a few days of each other, just for timing.

Hi.

I'm guessing by that one word alone that you've got a whole number of questions. I will show you one story and one story only. Most of the questions you have now, will bring up another story. I'm guessing the irony in the title has just hit you right? Either way, I just wanted to let you know, that if it's not important, I won't answer it. But I will answer the most important question; "Who Am I?".

That's not important.

Let me take away the cloud, the void. Let me show you suburbia, in all it's glory, the trees quiver ever so slightly as the breeze brushes past their delicate leaves. Ignore the lives and worries of the world, and focus on one house; on one home. It's the only thing that's important. The breeze itself, almost in acknowledgement of this, dances through the streets, the park and the picturesque birds that sing each other love songs as they glide through the sky just to reach one window, ever so slightly ajar. It slips through into the awaiting bedroom, and grazes the head of the man asleep, cupping another in his hand. He stirs and opens his eyes, followed no more than five seconds later by the sound of the alarm clock buzzing on his nearside table. He clicks, and looks back at the woman asleep next to him. He in turn grazes her head with his lips, and she stirs. He contact speaks to her in a way words never could, causing her to smile before rotating round to face him. The man now has his hand resting on that one person he cupped so tightly the night before. The woman looks down to her stomach, putting her hand on his. There are three heartbeats in this room.

The man is smiling now, his heart beat is calm and steady. But it gets faster, more irregular. As time goes by it clutches to the man's smile. It disappears, bound by time; lost in it. It is time, and the man watches. He is rendered powerless by a mere few inches of glass and so he watches. His two other heartbeats fading on the other side. Green overalls and masks fly in all different directions around the room juggle living wires and metal between them. As smile is almost gone, and the man clasps his mouth within one hand, holding onto it for dear life. Tears roll down his cheek as he musters all his strength not to lose the smile the time. But he is powerless. The overalls and masks, all focus at one point. A heart beats well. The overalls disperse quickly once one has cupped this heartbeat in their hands to move it to move it away from the chaos around the other beat in the room.
The overalls struggle. The line up, and weight while one stands over the beat, trying to wake it. He whispers using the metal covering his hands. He speaks through contact, but this is no graze. The beat stirs, and the other overalls begin to move. It's not long before the step back once again, giving the one space to speak. After the second stir, the others move rhythmically once again, but they are forced to step away. One last time, the overall attempts to speak to the beat. There is a pause after the beat stirs. the overalls move a lot slower now. It's quite. The man has watched, seeing all that he could take. He took his hand from his mouth now, giving in to his fading smile. One of the overalls moves to the glass, removing the mask to reveal the human inside. He shakes his head gently and moves away. The man entered the room. There are three heart in this room. Two broken, and only two hearts beat.

Time once again preyed on this man. It took less than a month for this man to mute his on heart. It spoke no more. There was no one there to whisper to him, no one there to touch him, graze him. Her broken heart stopped her from living. He wouldn't live with his broken heart. There are three hearts in this room. Two live on in the voice of third, only one heart beats.
