If you are not a member of the art club, and wish to be, please contact 76.

The Art Club does not discriminate between age, sex, race, or potential. We accept anyone who chooses to express themselves with art. Simply pm 76 and have him add you to the member's list. If your name has not been added to the member's list, do not post here.

Post Doodles related to the Topic chosen from the poll results here. Anything fitting the topic can be posted and I'll be very slack with the moderation of what fits criteria.


Rules:

This is a club. Not a company. There is NO obligation, whatsoever.

Topics will be decided via nominations, followed by a poll to decide between nominations.
Nominations should be messaged to the club president, to save time.

Anyone who claims a piece as their own, that is in fact, not their original work, will be kicked without exception.
Collaborations are encouraged, but be sure to credit everyone involved.

No nudity or graphically sexual/violent pictures.(Sexual organs or disemboweling.)

Do not post artwork that is not yours(This includes copyrighted material such as anime or mangan characters, television figures, ect. Though fan art does not fit into this category) If it is a collaboration between members, the members must be on the member's list(see above) and the names listed somewhere on the art(in the border, ect).

Everything posted here is automatically free-game. Meaning that you surrender the right to everyone to save these images to their computers. That's just how the internet works. Personal projects should be kept to yourself, if you don't want them shared to millions of people in an instant.

This week's Topic is Original Characters. Only post pictures of your own original characters.

Level of development does not matter. If you made up someone just to post here, that's just as good as someone who posts a character that's been in the works for decades.

Here's my contribution to this week's topic. Since he's also a pirate, I'll count it as my monthly piece as well. XP Sadly, my Dollar Store quality scanner butchered it even more than I did. The skull is mostly there for size reference...


Background: Jon Maxwell Stephanopolous Bartholomew Schnorbaath (with a silent 'h'), pirate and party lover, wanted for looting, pillaging, razing, murdering, stealing, manhandling, insulting and eating various people and/or their property, as well as generally being a prick to government officials. In his spare time, he collects the swords of famous swordsmen by utilizing a secret technique (read: cheating) that makes him immune to being cut by a sword (stabbing or beating him with a sword works perfectly well, but he'd never tell you that) as well as anything else that might give him an advantage. His weapon of choice is the gigantic, double-ended pencil that his ancient fighting technique is built upon (leading to the saying, "the pen is mightier than the sword"), a weapon that is both nigh indestructible and can cause lead poisoning - bet you weren't expecting that. Together with his band of unlikely (and unseemly) individuals, he sails the seas in hope of finding a treasure so great that he'll be able to retire and live like a king for the rest of his life.

I first made him back when I was twelve, based off my own appearance and the haircut I had back then (don't ask). Since then, he's undergone multiple transformations and gotten a crew's worth of characters to follow him. He's grown to become my favourite character, and is the origin of my current forum nickname: you address him with 'Maxwell', and one day I considered how that would sound coming from the Japanese. The rest is history.

Maxwell's main defining feature, aside from his sheer bulk, is the fact that he lacks eyebrows, lashes and, in fact, pretty much all of his eyes. In their stead, he has two small dots, although they're hidden by massive flashes in most of my drawings of him. Whether these are visible or not, though, his glasses are capable of changing shape and size to emulate the movements of actual cartoon eyes. In character, no one ever notices.

Thanks for the comment *Thumbs-up tooth flash*. If you feel like fixin' it up, you're welcome to. I'd have done it in GIMP or something, but the lines will still look all grainy-like, so I didn't think it'd be worth the effort. :\

Edit: I took the liberty of adding some background. Please, everyone - do the same. I don't know about anybody else, but I'd like to know that sort of stuff.

Gah... couldn't darken up M@x's lines without it getting splotchy. Sorry M@x It looks very clear with an extreme threshold but the splotches were marring the work
