Default Instant Email Notification

This has happened quite a few times, but...my instant email notifications are very delayed for some reason? I'll get an "instant email notifiation" about a post three pages ago when there has already been about seven other posts after it.

Anyone know what's wrong? Is it my email, or is it the site?

Many thanks, mates

I don't actually know but if both of your emails are coming late in could be in the script. Checking the site for updated threads every second/minute and then sending a email could be a heavy script. Even more so when you think of how many people prombley use the instant email. So if I had to guess instead of checking every minute/second the script was designed to check every hour.

That of course is all theory but if both of you are having it, then it may be server or script related issues.

I myself don't like instant email. It has made me afraid to open up my email. So many emails telling me about replies...

I'll check it out.

Either Beast is right and the email does an interval cascading check or the server's email parser is screwball.

I think beast is right, I doubt the site is constantly searching for new replies.

And it could also have something to do with internet speed....
