Or, for anyone running Mozilla Firefox, you can use the IRC Add On called ChatZilla. I am using it already, and am on the RPGuild channel

Quick Guide:

Reasonably similar to mIRC. However, to access the server you have to enter "/server irc.gamesurge.net" without the quotes. Then, from there follow the menu options IRC>Join Channel. From there if you just type "#RolePlayerGuild" without the quotes into the search box and press enter, you will be taken straight to the IRC page. If you want to then you can choose to have that channel open when you start, to make things easier in the "IRC" menu at the top. If you have any further questions on how to connect in ChatZilla please do contact me. Unfotunately, I only know these basics, so, for more complicated questions RTFM! :P

I am using opera to access the room, but it is failing to receive a room-list so I cannot enter the room. Anyone else using opera wanna help me out?

I just got on the IRC channel using Chatzilla. I found I had to type /join #RolePlayerGuild to get into it versus /join irc.gamesurge.net, though I did enter that before...may just be a Mac client thing.

Probably, yeah, Javen. And Grit, it doesn't matter what client we use to access the IRC, just that we all get on the correct server.

I'm currently using Trillian to access the server, and I get three drop-downs while trying to select the server:

GameSurge: Random EU Server
GameSurge: Random Server
GameSurge: Random US Server

Does it matter what type to use? Will it affect my connection to the server?

I chose Random Server and I found that I could connect to it... Haha. But yeah, I'm only asking if it would help with connection.

(And why does it seem like it's so empty? =( )

It is empty because the few who first joined realised that it was dead and so did not return very often. And i cannot help you with "Trillian" - only with Chatzilla, although, the server shouldn't matter, although, i usually go with the one where i live.

IRC is available on Trillian Basic, which I do have. (I'm currently running 3.0, btw.)

Here's how to do it:

1) Go to Manage my Connections under Trillian Preferences.
2) Input your information, (ex: your screen name, username and what not.)
3) For the server select GameSurge in the IRC servers and double click it. You should have three different options. Select the best one that would work best for you.
4) Click Connect.
5) Show your contact list and click the white dot.
6) Select Join a Channel.
7) Input #RolePlayerGuild.
8) And you're in!
