Default New Suggestions (for mods & admins)

Okay, I have a suggestion. Please note that I am only SUGGESTING this, so I see no reason why any mods or admins should yell and/or ban me for merely suggesting something.

I'm a veteran Role Player, poating at such sites as the MR Forums, the BoredZone Boards, and the Freeman Boards. I've been here for a while now, and I decided to add a suggestion/request for a 'mature' section. On most of the other boards, people would label an RP as 'Mature', post in a 'Mature' section, or be a member of the 'Mature RPers' group. I'm merely asking if it would be possible to start a mature section, start a mature RPers group, or if we can start posts with the rule 'mature' in it, so that people know what to expect.

'Mature' RPs are RPs that contain sexually explicit WRITING. Note that I say writing; meaning no pictures, links, or things like that. I can post a link to a good example of what I mean if the need arises.

Please consider my request respectfully. I'm not sitting around thinking about sick sexual ideas all the time. 'Mature' RPing sometimes just adds another element to stories, and I only want to know if it is possible for this genre to be posted here.

Thanks for your time. Keep up the good work staff members!
Respectfully,
UNORTHODOX

First thing, the mods here are reasonable and will not yell at or ban you for making a suggestion.

Secondly, this goal of RPGuild is to maintain a family friendly atmosphere such that anyone of any age (and the parents of young un's who are RPing here) can freely browse the entire site and be satisfied that there is no explicit content. Any sort of mature section would violate this objective.

I know there are some borderline 'mature' themed RPs, but as far as I understand the mods watch them closely for anything that goes just too far and action is taken immediately if that is the case.

No matter how much of an ARPer I am, as well as a regular SFW RPer, I do not believe that the RPG is interested in such a section. This site, as I gather from my experience here, is meant to be a friendly all-ages all access site like Candi has suggested. Such a section can be found on other forums, including a few I am on. As such, I believe that this section doesn't have much purpose on such a forum. This is a welcoming and all around RP forum. It's rare you find RPing in such a pure form.

Okay, first off...when has a Mod ever banned anyone, (on this site), for someone just suggesting something? Lol. We wouldnt do that! We like suggestions.

I think it is an interesting idea. I know that sometimes I would like my RPs to go more mature, but I (and others) hold back. So, its an interesting idea...but I honestly dont think enough people will agree enough for it to fly.

I wouldn't mind having it around, but the fact that it would be so easily accessible by children makes it seem like not such a great idea. And, I think the focus in such threads would shift from RP to pr0n, potentially reducing a reputable website to a hub for cybersex with a little RP on the side. These risks conflict with our goal to create and maintain an environment suitable for most any audiences.

True enough, but couldn't a board be set up for specific, manager approved rps where it's deemed such things are actually valid, and then the password for the thread just given to the people in it? That way it wouldn't be easy for everyone and their grandmother to make all the pr0n in the world, but if people were serious about role playing without the kiddy gloves they could?

Then, as tears of bubbling pitch stream down my face, my dark work will begin.

I will open one of my six mouths, and I will sing the song that ends the Earth.

Yes, but a password system is flawed. One of my forums which this system has been used still had the ARP area degrade as Blackfire has noted. Although the system, complete with binding contract, transfers responsibility from the forum to the user, it still is easily accessable and will be nothing more than an extra motion towards finding the "pr0n". I believe that ARPing is something which we shouldn't offer on this forum. There are other forums for that if you truly wanted.

To add to the password problem, with Private Messaging inabled, members can simply share the passwords back and forth. Thus, there is really no secure way of password protecting the forum.

The only "secure" (and I quote that) way to ensure "security" (and I quote that as well) is create a new User Group for mature members and allow that group privaleges to access the restricted forum. This is how we mods are only able to access (and see) our mod forums. HOWEVER, I take the same stance as the other mods, and Candi, on this topic and believe that a Mature Forum is not needed here.

*The ninja swoops in to deliver the final blow!*

I am afraid that the idea is an all around 'no-no' here.

As others have stated, there are members of all ages here. From twelve to twenty-three. People of all sorts and shapes and religions come here and converse freely. Having a mature forum would just help to segregate the members into 'those allowed to maturely roleplay' and 'those who aren't.'

What happens if we find a twelve year old girl who likes to roleplay as a 30 year old woman? She possesses all the right skills. Coherent, creative writing. A good role-playing spirit. Doesn't take things too far. Etc.
In walk the parents, they see a website where little kids are being allowed to roleplay in mature formats. And they blow a gasket.

Now you may come around with 'We won't allow anyone under a certain age to participate.' But what happens when they get smart enough to lie? What if they lie about their age? Hmm? Are you going to go meet them in real life to confirm it? Because I doubt the parents would be up for that either.

This forum would cause more problems than it would be worth.

Not to mention it would probably be a ghost-town type of thing anyway. Because I doubt that the number of members who would actually participate in such roleplays are in such mass here. The forum would never have any activity.

There are dozens of other sites where you can get your fix of mature roleplays.
So just leave this site at a family-friendly position.

(My comments and opinions here aren't meant to flame. So don't take them offensively.)
